Atheists destroy churches, attack the faithful

Hello from a Southerner. It is not the Catholics in the South you need to worry about but the fundamentalists or as I call them the Talibangelicals.

Right now residents are suing the state of MS for new license plate with "In God We Trust" on it, without offering a free alternative tag. How would these Christians like it if atheists or even progressive Christians made a tag with "In Planned Parenthood, Roe v Wade and access for poor women to abortion We Trust"?
Yeah, didn't think so.

You would need a big number plate.

“With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion.”
--Steven Weinberg

Now, I don't actually believe this. But I do believe good people will do awful things in the name of a cause they believe in. Whether that be Jesus, Mohammed, Ganesh, Wotan, Communism, Capitalism, Democracy or Atheism.

But there is a huge difference between the first 4 and the last 4. A supernatural supposedly moral being is not giving horrible instructions.

Bombing churches is not a tenet of atheism. Its just some sick bastard. Because atheism isn't a world view. Its simply the disbelief of a single superstitious claim.

There is no book of atheism. No right or wrong way handed down from some phoney pastor or imam. No revelations that are

I've always been amused when Christians try and take the high ground on goodness and morality. Usually its because they haven't even read their "Good Book" which in fact is not good or moral. If you think is, you either haven't read it or you're one sick puppy.

Just some of the moral things the bible says
Killing one's wife if she's not a virgin on her wedding night.and depositing her corpse on her father's doorstep.
Stoning someone for working on the Sabbath.
Enslaving others.
Beating your slaves.
Killing witches
Killing homosexuals.
Having your unruly child stoned by the village.
Torturing someone for eternity because they are not gullible.

Here's my Easter message.

Favor

  • Evidence over epiphanies
  • Reason over revelations
  • Science over superstitions
  • Facts over Faith
  • Reality over Religion

Can I have an Amen?

Wow this thread got really long and like many of TBDs threads got really boring so I skipped to the end. Then to find out he/she has shuffled off again.

One thing I was initially interested in however was the mention of the Atheist Bible. Was that issue ever sorted? Did I miss a meeting? After all, I need to make sure I'm following the holy scripture.

It's just the regular bible, with a sarcastic "Not!" penciled in at the end of every verse.

I think he actually believed that the 'Atheist Bible', i.e. Das Kapital by Karl Marx, was all about atheism and burning down churches. Having read it a couple of times, I knew that he was as wrong as he could possibly be. (He had no idea what it is actually about. He has that in common with most of its critics.)
Since I have two versions of it on my Kindle (in German and English), I went through all references to Atheism, Christianity and churches and posted the relevant quotations:

We established a very long time ago that you don't know what Marxism is, you don't know what Atheism is, and the so-called "Atheist Bible" says approximately the opposite of what you thought it said:

I won't say that I managed to set him straight on Das Kapital, but I think that he was surprised to find out that it is not about Christianity at all. After all, it's a book about (capitalist) economy, not about religion. Marx had finished criticizing religion more than 20 years before he wrote the first volume of Das Kapital, in the introduction to A Contribution to the Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right, Dec. 1843/Jan. 1844.
