atheist afterlife

im a atheist that knows from experience that theres a afterlife.

By the way, I was dead for over a minute. Nothing but blackness; actually, not even blackness. There was just ... nothing.

So, our anecdotes are not tied, one-to-one.

...
Are you actually saying that there is somepasta out there who'll judge me when I snuff it, and decide if I'm worthy of the beer volcano and the stripper factory?

That's not really an atheist afterlife, is it?

That's not so much an afterlife; more of an après-vie

Reincarnation suggests, if not properly something "supernatural", then at least something that's part of the universe that is not currently observed.

If it's a built-in Feature of the Universe(tm), then it would obviously suggest something funky, given that's clearly something that would almost certainly be placed there deliberately.

If it's an add-on, then it was placed by some highly advanced society or intelligence, which again suggests something funny going on.

However, the best path is to simply ask if the phenomenon exists before you try to explain it. And, like Nessie, Bigfoot, and UFOs, there is no solid proof for either reincarnation or an afterlife.

This is why we ask what your evidence is. Also, when we hear, "But that's not for you to know," we get highly suspicious. Either you're making it up, or have a high suspicion that your proof isn't really that solid.

What about a beforelife?

At some point you didn't exist for billions of years, and it didn't kill you the first time..

err ...wait a minute

You must realize that none of us are worthy of the beer volcano and the stripper factory. It is only through the grace of the Cosmic Bouncer that any of us are ever allowed to gaze in drunken stupor at the heavenly boobies.

The Cosmic Bouncer? See? There is someone out there who'll judge me!!!!! I've had enough of that in this life. And if there aren't any firm male butts involved that I can gaze at in my drunken stupor, I'm not interested anyway. I've got heavenly boobs myself. :D

your belief is wishful thinking because you want the people who are better then you to end up the same way after death. in truth there is a afterlife.
You really think there are people out there who wouldn't choose eternal life over having everybody end up the same way?

And by the way, how do you think people do NOT end up the same way after death? Do you also have experiential evidence to believe in a heaven and hell, or some other way that different people are assigned to different afterlives? What is this afterlife like? And do you have any real evidence or are we supposed to just take your word for it?

Because I really have to be convinced if I'm going to believe in an afterlife (people can't choose their beliefs consciously, or at least I can't). I can't just take you on your non-capitalized words that there is an afterlife any more than I can just take millions of theists on their word when they claim to have talked directly with God. You can't just say "I believe this because I have some sort of experience that I'm not going to elaborate on and you better just believe me because I said so."

I came from stardust. One day some tiny part of me might become part of a star again. I take great pleasure from that.

I just wanna die.......with little pain.

I always thought that by teh age of 40...I would have found another human, (preferably female) to hold my hand as I gasphed out.

Not yet. Still looking. Pussy not required, but preffered.

peace

p.s. life is.....then u di

I'm keyboarding this from the afterlife (on a Commodore 64... I think I've been gone a long time), and it's really kind of boring. Our only entertainment is god pacing and muttering on about how he's gonna scare the ◊◊◊◊ out of Dawkins and PZ when they get here.

That comment has a certain je ne sais quoi, but I don't know what.

"That's not so much an afterlife; more of an après-vie" - from a certain late british author.

Douglas Adams, Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Book 2, shortly after the gang arrives at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe (also title of the book, IIRC).

why do most people think there has to be a god for there to be a afterlife. im a atheist that knows from experience that theres a afterlife. atheism is only the disbelief of there not being a invisible man in the sky. so you can believe there is a afterlife and still be a atheist. i got everything i need to exist forever.its hard to mixed the physical world with the spiritual world.

I hope you realize that what you perceive in near death or out-of-body states depends largely on what you already believe about the afterlife or lack thereof. If one believed in a different type of afterlife, such as reincarnation, one would experience the fulfillment of those beliefs. An atheist who doesn't believe in the afterlife would not experience any visions, heavenly or otherwise.
