His stance maybe sounds conspiratoral but as he sayed a few times, in his mind it's no conspiracy but just one of many ideologies. It's important to realize he did not claim it as a conspiracy. He even said that it could bring a few good things here and there so he doesn't beleive it's some kind of an evil scheme to destroy United States. He just fears what problems it might bring because the sovereignity will be compromised. Just think about the illegal immigration problem when the difficulty of getting in the US for example.

NAU is a completly mainstream theory such as EU. It should be mainstream and in principle is mainstream because there's nothing really evil in it. Like it was said before me people must have thought about it a million times already. But it just deals with different problems especially related to a very funny neighbor called Mexico. If people always realised that some decisions are really bad - like loosing sovereignity, we would have a perfect world.

Understand it now?? Only conspiratoral nuts think that people want to implement it for some crazy evil reasons. Hmm if maybe business profit is the main reason it sounds quite evil but still not Alex Jones conspiracy type evil of the grand theatre of the Bohemian Groove

Our government was, at the time, beguiled by Friedman's BS and over-threw Allende with the intent of imposing Friedmanism on Chile for the benefit of our neo-colonialist entrepreneurs. Whoever came up with that idea should be found and deported to Chile to face the consequences.

Now maybe RP would be against such meddling, on the grounds that it is criminal to overthrow governments that do not attack us. but he is probably stupid enough to think that Friedmanism was good for Chile. That would make him seriously bad for America and the world, because he would favor a foreign policy that would support countries that mistakenly try Friedmanism as a cure for what is wrong with their ecconomies.

All of them. They never help working people. They help the people who can buy the jobs out from under the working man.

Government, it may surprise a Friedman-bot to learn, does not exist to make the rich richer, at least among rational, civilized free people.

Regarding Friedman and Chile: Friedman said that if you do this then that will happen. It was not some kind of shock doctrine that was implemented from day #1. On the contrary, Pinochet was really careful when he rolled back Allende's policies, as not to rock the boat.

Pinochet's coup was counter-productive as best. It would have been much better if Allende's follies had been left alone to mature and then explode in the faces of all the chileans for the world to see. Instead of equating all things not Allende with "fascism", they would probably through mopping up their own mess have realized that the chocie is not between socialism or fascism, but between freedom or oppression.

Yes I meant exactly something like that. Not evolution in terms of biology because their genetics is on the same level as ours (bit of a controversy here), but a cultural evolution that was seriously disrupted by coming of the white folks to their homeland bringing all their ugly baggage with them.

And the free market issue. Ok I'm a freshly graduated economist (yes my mayor was macroeconomics and some simple managment) who knows atleast "something" like everybody else about the definition of those words but probably more about the actual thinking of people who are pro free market (the psychology side). Ron Paul's free market ideas have to be first examined more to make any comparations to the problems they faced in Chile. From what I've read about RP's ideas the comparation to Chile doesn't have much worth. Why?? RP is one of those who "like free market ideas" but know that "only a few segments of the theory can be really implemented" because of the wide range of externalities and the current state of country that would not allow alot of things to pass. So in terms of "free market ideology strength" his on the low-medium level.
To his gold backing ideas. It's basicaly a common sense that leads people to this assumption but the current state of world's thinking and working does not allow benefits to surface in every country so the whole theory is a bit dead for now and if you read RP's ideas he also knows that it's dead for now, but not forever. It's also the common sense that tells us that something like that has to be done in the future to prevent all this BS stuff that's going on all over the modern countries. Just look at it. It's pathetic. Especially pathetic in the US. People behind it just struggle so much for their economic ideologies that they simple screw the truth and say that everything's ok and even better than it was. Even stupid ass Glenn Beck's last show had a few good points (not all).

RP also said it many times. To push the changes in the whole free-market & monetary issue is very hard so his presidency would serve only as a small catalyst to the overall change. The biggest and the most quickly solveable idea is now to stop the BS war stuff because the time for the possibility of mid-east healing is running out. The whole mid-east problems could hit even my european ass big time you know. I would really like to see USA having a sensitive approach to the whole problem because it affects all of us (just look at the oil prices).

RP is because of his weak "free market" mentality the best candidate in my eyes becuase he would server as a slow catalyst for slowly solving the deep economy issues but he would be a fast executioner for the most burning things like stopping the war and getting atleast some grip on the current US spending which so pathetic that it just cannot be understood.

You can't really call it Friedmanism, since it was imposed by a dictator through brute force, and not strictly as Friedman had suggested. And you can't call it libertarianism for the same reason. Libertarians oppose the use of force to get what you want.

That's a huge stretch. I don't think Ron Paul would favor countries that favor "Friedmanism" especially since we are talking about 2 types of "Friedmanism". The kind that uses force and torture (which isn't Friedmanism, but you continue to criticize as if it were) and a more libertarian style of government, which Chile, as far as I know, never enjoyed.
