Are atheists too complacent?

I am discussing Scorpion's beliefs.

I am trying not to discuss my beliefs on this thread, I just wanted to see what atheists would have to say.

I particularly like GDon's post above. Post 162

That's nice for you, but doesn't deflect me from arguing that your summary in the first post is a load of crap especially given your horrendous, abusive, violent beliefs.

I try to talk about spiritual ideas, and it gets reduced to my having to try and justify Hitler and child murders.

When I talk about everything working out for the ultimate good, I am talking about humanity raising itself to a higher state of spiritual evolution by actions, and the consequences. That may take hundreds, or even thousands of incarnations. This may take a million years, but ultimately humanity will rise above suffering. We will then proceed into a higher realm of existence as immortals. One family of enlightened souls.

I do not dwell upon horrible things. They will pass.

You've got a lot of damn gall describing atheists as complacent after this little spiel.

Yeahbut, yer man Scorpion is spiritual, interested in deeper things and can't be expected to trouble himself about all the mundane matters which might concern us atheistical types, who don't have spirituality to worry about...

Whatever the buggery bollocks spiritual and spiritual evolution actually mean...

Is it the same spiritual evolution that Rudolf Steiner talked about that just happened to go a long with become paler and blonder as the spirit evolves? That racist bollocks?

I have read a little of Rudolph Steiner, but I don't remember reading that.

I was however, briefly in a painting class conducted by Gladys Mayer, who studied under Steiner. Her house was full of her beautiful paintings.

Who knows?

Steiner certainly had some unpleasant ideas about people necessarily having physical and mental disabilities and other significant health issues in order to "learn" (for want of a better term) after having done something naughty in a previous life.

Odd that yer man Scorpion can't remember Steiner's racist views...

.

You have the whole internet in front of you

The spot in Africa corresponds to those forces of the earth which imprint upon man the characteristics of early childhood. The spot in Asia corresponds to those which give man the characteristics of youth, and the ripest characteristics are imprinted on man by the corresponding spot in Europe. This is simply a law. As all persons in their different incarnations pass through the various races, therefore, although it may be argued that the European has the advantage over the black and the yellow races, we should not be prejudiced thereby. Here the truth may, indeed be sometimes veiled, but you see that with the help of spiritual science we really do come upon remarkable truths. — Rudolf Steiner

Waldorf [Steiner] schools are inherently racist

Oh god. Not the colour healing crapfest, please no.

Is there any crankery that you will reject?

Praise be to AutoModAction for fixing the broken quote tag I didn't notice until it was too late.
