Ann Coulter made the internet angry, and it retaliated

Wow. What was 9/11/2001 to you-melancholy?

Wasn't that the event that was performed by that guy... Alan Qaeda?

That Alan Shabaab guy seems to be causing more issues in Kenya as well.

Many years ago I had what I thought would be the pleasure of standing next to Ann Coulter before she went on stage at a republican fundraiser. At the time I was a young conservative male so I was a fan of hers. Only what I discovered was that she reeked of a scent I call "Ode de White Trash" which is the stink of old cigarette smoke covered in way too much perfume. She was one of those self-important celebrities who wouldn't speak to the lowly working stiffs who had to set up the stage for the celebs.

Her foul aroma aside, her behavior was unusual in that I found republican celebs to be much nicer than democratic celebs. In spite of her rude attitude several of my co-workers were drooling on themselves at the sight of her. Remember this and watching her through the years I've arrived at the conclusion that she got plenty of male fan attention and now she can't live without it and will say or do anything that will make people look at her.

She's quite an odd person actually. I wonder does she still smoke? She grew up in one of the poshest of suburban towns, New Canaan Connecticut, so she's definitely NOT white trash. She's also a lifelong bachelorette (any chance she's a closet lesbian? ) and once described herself as a "mean-spirited, bigoted conservative." Link

Thanks Ann. :(

I can't help but think her behavior is some teen movie stereotype where a woman tries to earn acceptance in a man's world by acting tougher than the men.

Except replace "man's world" with "conservative world" and "tougher" with "crazier".

Race to the bottom...

That's actually close to how I've always explained her to myself. There are those who think she's a deep cover liberal, just trollin' away to give the truly hateful nuts on the right a bad name, but I think they're in denial.

Besides, once you're THAT deep undercover, you're bound to get swept away with the game anyway. Whether or not she started out that way (and I still believe she absolutely DID), I feel certain Ann Coulter now believes every ugly, bigoted, nutty, and provocative thing she spits out.

Hence, all those dreadful books of hers. What a rough read, just for the sake of intelligent debate. I must be a serious masochist on some level. :(

Actually, Ann is a lawyer graduating from from Cornell, a successful book writer and a beautiful, proud, highly articulate and funny conservative woman.

Do you also like the fact that she's a creationist? Here's an excerpt from the link (bolding added):

God may have allowed mutations and survival of the fittest to produce different breeds of a species, such as dogs and cats, but new species were created out of whole cloth, just as it says in the Book of Genesis. Like Behe and other IDers, Coulter is silent on how God directed evolution and what sort of evidence would confirm or disconfirm the role of an intelligent designer.

Those poor girls stolen from their school and held by that Muslim man is sad, not having respect and admiration for a brilliant person who has also sold more than 3 million books so has many fans.
Let's be clear: she's "written" eight "books" that have sold 3 million in total, so an average of 375 thousand each. That's surprising, as I thought there were more crazies in America. I guess most of them can't read.

Well, that would explain why all but two of her books have either her face or figure on their covers...

Thanks Ann. :(

A person can behave like "white trash", regardless of their upbringing. Posh doesn't necessarily automatically endow a person with class and dignity.

Oh yeah, she's a very smart woman.

Here's some of her branier quotes:

***
"I think [women] should be armed but should not vote ... women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it ... it's always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care."

"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. "

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building."

(Speaking of women who were widowed by the 9-11 terrorist attack.)
"I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much."

"I think the government should be spying on all Arabs, engaging in torture as a televised spectator sport, dropping daisy cutters wantonly throughout the Middle East and sending liberals to Guantanamo."

"I don't know if he's gay. But Al Gore — total fag"

"As for catching Osama, it's irrelevant. Things are going swimmingly in Afghanistan."

"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word "faggot", so I — so kind of an impasse — can't really talk about Edwards."

"I thought gays just wanted to get married to one another and settle down in the suburbs so they could visit each other in the hospital."
***

What's not to love?

I've never understood how people can use the, 'Oh but you have to credit her intelligence', line with her. I have to do no such thing as the only intelligence she displays is in being a marketable troll. Her arguments are horrendously researched and rely mostly on blatant lies.

Your subjective opinion lacks a certain je ne sais quoi.
I don't speak, read or write Italian. :D
Which is not needed to understand ApolloGnomon's French expression.

I think that was the only claim of yours in this thread that hadn't been checked on its accuracy (and found lacking).

As already pointed out, the grinning smiley indicates ABC10 was joking about the phrase being Italian.
