BTW, don't google "monkey shot"
I know. Devious, isn't it?Posting this without telling why is a recipe for trouble.
I know. Devious, isn't it?
It's like the big shiny glowing red button that says "DO NOT PRESS".
In this case I think Sharpton may have a point, and the title of the OP makes things worse. I say may, because it is not clear what was the intended target of the cartoon, and whether the cartoonist was aware of the connotations of this form of racism.
The same point could have been made by using, say, a Donkey in the cartoon.
Al's only point is the one that is located at the top of his head.. The intended target? Who wrote the stimulus bill? Hint: It wasn't Obama.
The cartoonist, unlike you, was aware of the Stamford, Connecticut chimp that attacked the friend of the owner. This was all over the msm Monday.
If the argument is valid (or invalid), what does it matter who made it?I hope nobody here is actually trying to defend Sharpton, a demogogue who had done more to damage race relations in the US then any other individual.
The fact that Obama did not write the bill seems to me not to be that relevant, as he is ultimately the one who sets the political direction. The point about the incident in Connecticut stands, as I have already admitted. In fact, it had led me to reinterpret the cartoon. I now think that the cartoonist wanted to say that the people writing the bill were crazy. I still find your chosen OP title to be distasteful.
Based largely on broad proposals made by President Barack Obama, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is intended to...
Hasn't Obama been the one pushing for this bill? Wasn't he taking the lead on it?
A quick google shows:
[There seems little question about whose bill this is.
It's a stupid cartoon, first off. And you have to think what kind of idiot would let it run. Yes, I don't like Sharpton, but the quote isn't outrageous at all.
It's only funny when Republican presidents are compared to chimps.
