9/11: the musical...

Another slice of American (Troofer) Pie, incoporating an earlier contribution by qarnos. I've skipped the the penultimate verse, due to lack of inspiration on that one, and moved on to the last verse.

I met a man who bamed the Jews
And I asked him to explain his views
But he just lied and turned away.
On JREF I took the floor
Where they knew about the troof and more
But all there said my theories wouldn't fly

And in the forums, the Loosers screamed
Avery cried, and the mods all schemed
Bitter words were spoken

I have decided to take the plunge and record my "It's Like a Religion" (Losing My Religion) song.

This is a plunge for me because I can't sing. In my band I am known as "that guy who can't sing". But, I figure since I will probably never meet any of you guys, I can safely release this under the shield of anonymity.

I recorded the guitar track in one take on my Takamine acoustic. There were some stuff-ups but I hope no one will notice. I wish I had a Mandolin!

The vocals were also done in one take - since I can't sing, one take is as good as one hundred. I used a little bit of reverb to try and disguise my bad vocals.

It plays fine for me on either Windows Media Player or Realplayer. Bravo, qarnos. The guy who can't sing done good.

Hey, you sing better than I do, at least! A bit of a Neil Young sound, more than Michael Stipe, but very nice!

P.S. Sorry for spelling your name wrong in an earlier post, qarnos. I blame it on the instinctive nature of my typing fingers in making "u" follow "q". ;)

No probs. Most people either do that or spell it with a "g".

It serves me right for choosing a stupid name... (I actually just punched a group of keys and that came out) :D

Aw, shucks! You guys embarass me!

I am working on another song at the moment - it's is an original song and is a dig at Killtown and his obession with Val McClatchey. It has no title at the moment but I am leaning towards "Ode to Killtown".

It has a bit of a country feel to it, so I need to work on my American country singer voice.

I won't set any deadlines at the moment but I will keep you informed of my progress. :D
 
I have recorded a very short demo of the Killtown song. In fact, it is just half a verse and the chorus! But I thought I would let you guys have a sneak peek anyway.

My American country singer voice turned out better than I expected it too, but my notes are still a bit wobbly on the "Killtown" lines.

This is pretty much a "raw" cut. There is a little bit of distortion, but them's the brakes. In the final version I plan of having some Hammond Organ stuff and other little frills!

I bought an X77 with a 770 Leslie in the spring. I also have a B3 and a CV that I've had for many years.

No, I'm not obsessive at all. Nope, not at all. ;)

I don't blame you in the least.

I just have a cheesy M3, motor fragged and tube bases cracked. Got it for free, what can I say. It was a good "learner" organ, me having taking piano lessons for years but never being trained properly on the organ. I had it wired through my stereo for monster sound.

One of these days, after I fix my house, like to get a better Hammond. B3, A-100, who knows... so long as it has a full rack of pedals, I'll be happy. Sigh, someday...
