Election Day seems to have called some members of the American electorate out of hibernation. Google Trends showed spiking search interest in the United States for the query “Did Joe Biden drop out?” over the past two days, surging to an even higher peak on Tuesday as voters took to the polls to pick between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The vice president replaced President Biden as the Democratic nominee in July after his disastrous debate performance versus Trump. Biden posted a letter to Americans on July 21 announcing his decision to withdraw from the race. “I believe it is in the best interest on my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden said. On X, the evidence of these oblivious Americans—amid the nation’s highly divisive political atmosphere—became fodder for jokes.

IMO a large part of this is due to Republicans in general, and Trump in particular, having little or no interest in governing except where it enriches them personally.

Perhaps it's better that people so out of touch with what's going on don't vote.

The internment camps will be New York City, Chicago, LA and San Francisco, closely guarded by a new, very special arm of the military whose uniforms (designed by Stephen Miller) will be fabulous.

Won't need them, they'll just send them one bus full at a time. Seize them off the street, stick them on a prison bus and ship them to Mexico (regardless of their country of origin). 250k buses full - job done !

Well, since we all know how honest the maga weirdoes are, the last I heard, there were 30 million "illegals" that have crossed the border into the US and had spread out to all the swing states in order to throw the election.

Interestingly enough, when I did research into the 20,000 Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio (you know, the ones that were eating cats and dogs), I found that the stats indicated that the population from the year 2000 to 2024 decreased by 7,700, leaving me to wonder where exactly did all those Haitians go?

It's a hell of a conundrum.


ETA: I added quotation marks around my use of the word "illegals", because someone complained about my using the word without indicating that it was not my belief but that I was only quoting the maga weirdoes' lingo instead, and I apologize for any misunderstanding or insult this may have caused.

Noted conservative news source CNN says there's around 10k Haitian immigrants among the almost 30k immigrants from the Caribbean. I suppose that's not at all a thing people should notice or would in any way impact a community. I mean, even noticing is like racist man.

To be fair, I don't live there, and I think it's probably a good thing that immigrants are moving to a particular place, generally means a thriving economy. I also know that when a lot of outsiders move to a neighborhood, folks are going to notice. If its white people, it's called gentrification and its bad, if it's not, well you're racist to even notice, I guess.
 
Looking ahead. Assuming Project 25 does not get all it wants. We need to think of 2028. Morning Joe was trashing the Democratic Party this morning. He says have to abandon all wokism, presumably climate issues etc. Because we can't talk to the working man anymore. Well, that is all nonsense. We can keep all the policies, trans gender and all. We are a coalition. It has cat ladies and many single issue groups. No, we need a GUY. And I mentioned governors. We have one. Tim Walz will do it, he will joke and make fun of the failures of Trumpism and the frail old man that Trump will be. Or Vance running Trumpism.

I read an article a while back which said it's one of those towns whose population has been dropping like a stone for years, leaving vital jobs unfilled and infrastructure decaying. The idea was to boost its economy by settling a large number of immigrants in it to do the jobs, and spend their pay in the local shops. According to the article it's working very well, despite a little friction between the incomers and some of the more bigoted residents.
