Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

Those 'illegals', Latinx and Haitians are all Homo sapiens, just like yourself.

I agree, but that's how the maga weirdoes have referred to them, and I'm just using their lingo, because after all, they have been soooooo honest about everything.

ETA: I added quotation marks around "illegals" and an apology to my original comment.

Really?
Noted conservative news source CNN says there's around 10k Haitian immigrants among the almost 30k immigrants from the Caribbean. I suppose that's not at all a thing people should notice or would in any way impact a community. I mean, even noticing is like racist man.

To be fair, I don't live there, and I think it's probably a good thing that immigrants are moving to a particular place, generally means a thriving economy. I also know that when a lot of outsiders move to a neighborhood, folks are going to notice. If its white people, it's called gentrification and its bad, if it's not, well you're racist to even notice, I guess.

I added, my stat source for Springfield, Ohio:

The 30 million is what many of the maga weirdoes in the MSN forums have sworn was the actual number, and we all know how honest those idiots are.

I read an article a while back which said it's one of those towns whose population has been dropping like a stone for years, leaving vital jobs unfilled and infrastructure decaying. The idea was to boost its economy by settling a large number of immigrants in it to do the jobs, and spend their pay in the local shops. According to the article it's working very well, despite a little friction between the incomers and some of the more bigoted residents.

That's what I also heard, and unless they didn't count them in the population estimates, here's my source:

ETA: I have a couple of friends I met through the MSN forum that actually work with some of the migrant Haitians, and they told me that they were some of the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet. Plus, I also did a load of research on this "Haitians eating cats and dogs" story, and it's ALL a lie. I can also provide proof if it's needed. As usual, trump, what's his name, and the maga weirdoes are all idiots.

The Party's vetting process will firstly, and mostly, involve a melatonin visual inspection.

I've seen reports that the DOJ are dropping charges against Trump.

Nothing official yet though.
But he will undoubtedly commit more crimes during his reign. Oh, ◊◊◊◊... but now he can't be tried for "Official Duties while in Office". ◊◊◊◊.

You have like no sense of humor. Lighten up, Francis
I lost my sense of humor when people like you put people like this Fat Orange Prolapsed Anus into the most powerful political position in the world. I may not be American, but that doesn't mean American politics doesn't affect me. I don't want my children and grandchildren growing up the the type of world this arse-hole will create. We have almost certainly reached, or are very close to the PNR for climate change - the next few years may be our last chance to turn it around . We are already seeing one-in-a-hundred-year climate events happening every year - the frequency of tropical cyclones and hurricanes is had been increasing at 8% per decade for the last 100 years, and their intensity has been increasing as well.
I don't think we can survive another four years of Repugnican slash and burn environmental policies.

I looked at the results of my district in CA, which is mostly immigrants, naturalized.
About 20% white voters or so. 40% Asian, 35% hispanic. Majority here speak a foreign language at home. (Spanish is almost totally normal though and my kid speaks it well)

The district voted for Trump.

And for Congress, the winner is a republican immigrant woman from Korea, Michelle Steel.
So did the District next to us. Almost same situation, Korean woman immigrant, Young Kim

My whole county went Republican, despite a drastic change to a majority of immigrant demographics.
The racist anti- immigrant narrative for a Republican voter didn't affect the voters here.
Legal immigrants resent people who come in without reason or merit.

Those are the facts. You can look them up. I'm district 45.

Legal immigrants resent people who come in without reason or merit.

I see no problem with everything you posted, except for the sentence above. The only way you could possibly know this with 100% certainty is if you talked to EVERY SINGLE legal immigrant in this country, which I doubt you did, otherwise, it's a blanket statement and those are usually (if not always) untrue.

I'm sure there are many that feel that way, but how about immigrants who are working towards citizenship? Do they also feel the same way about them, or how about the children of immigrants, or how about those trying to escape brutal regimes?

What are their feelings about all those issues?

ETA: BTW, I'm a reasonable republican, and I have no problem with immigrants, even if they have no reason for being here, except for those who act like criminals by hurting folks. Not ALL immigrants are like that. Some just want to provide for their children, and I really can't fault them for that, but maybe you do.

The sentence would actually make more sense if you put, "Many" or "Some" at the beginning.

trump's going to round them all up anyway whoever they voted for.

I just witnessed a conversation between jubiliant Trump supporters. They were giddy about how their mortgages will go down, how taxes will be reduce or even eliminated, prices on groceries and gasoline will be lowered. Trump is going to do all those things, "on day one"!

How? Not considered. The effects and side-effects of these happenings? Not considered. Free money! Cheap things! Infinite spending! No bills! Cake cake cake cake cake, and never stomachache!
Further proof that you can't fix stupid.

Wait a minute, do you think he'll also round up the republicans who are actually holding a political office too. I mean, sure trump is stupid, but is he really that stupid?

Think you read me in error or I didn't make it clear. People who spent time and effort to do ANYTHING generally reset those who get it for free. That is human nature.

My parents are immigrants. Most of my friends are 1st gen immigrants. My mother had a green card until 5 years ago. California is mainly immigrants. It is not some special category here. They all put in effort and time to gain citizenship and don't like it to be diluted as some freebie given out.

All I am saying is that democrats make a mistake in thinking most immigrants want border crossers to have an easy time, with benefits and only racist white people are against it. It doesn't meet with reality here.

And I say many or most not ALL. Of course not all. The voters tell the tale.

Kamala Harris has conceded the election less than a day after the election. Isn't that an interesting contrast with what Trump did in 2020?

We can all give Kamala Harris a some credit for having far more class in this matter than Trump.
I'd be hard put to find anyone with less class than Trump.

I recall Woodstock where the cry from the stage was Ronald ReaGUNS. Maybe Joan Baez not sure.
Then in 1980 he was apparently planning to start WW3 with star wars.
The opposite happened.
I only point this out because Trump is both predictable and unpredictable.
I find it remarkable that a vote in a shining democracy is not treasured by everyone here.
I treasure the right to vote, not the individual vote choice of every person.
