A lot of even the well intentioned media that isn't TRYING to be propaganda for the right has fallen into the "Fair and Balanced" trap confusing popularity for factualness.

And, like a lot of facets of society, the media has let the right bully them into be scared of seen as fact checking because idiots can't (or won't) tell the difference between that and censorship, the single main cause of us living in a post-fact world.

As someone once said "Media. If 50% of people say it is sunny and 50% of people say it is raining it is NOT your job to 'report on the controversy.' It's your job to OPEN A WINDOW AND ******* CHECK."
As noted by the Chris O'Donnell piece, none of the cable news channels - MSNBC included - carried Harris' speech afterwards, so the notion they're trying to be balanced can be discarded.

The media knows who gets them headlines, views, and clicks, and it ain't the Harris campaign, and the relative serenity of the Biden presidency has left them craving four more years of trump.

There's very little real journalism left in the U.S. It's all about creating controversy and chaos for views. NPR/PBS does a decent job. Even the BBC is more reliable than any major U.S. source.

Funniest moment of the campaign so far:
Trump being announced to crowd in MT as a video of Celine Dion singing "my heart will go on" plays in the background... (song from the movie Titanic) :o:D

:dl:

Can't decide if this is a case of The Best People or if he was dumb and weird enough to pick it himself.

Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On” at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.

In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.

…And really, THAT song?

EXCLUSIVE

We received internal Trump documents from ‘Robert.’ The campaign just confirmed it was hacked.
The campaign suggested Iran was to blame. POLITICO has not independently verified the identity of the hacker or their motivation.

That's not what he said. I listened to it several times and my husband heard the same thing I did: "that's so (effing) BAD.

I heard it as "that sofa thing's bad", a clear reference to Vance. Perhaps those old ladies were right, after all, the ones who used to put that plastic over all the upholstered furniture and the carpets. They had the foresight of the wise.

Truly this is the most dignified election we've ever had.

Are you deaf?, or just have selective ears?

Are you directing that at me? If so, then why the nastiness just because my husband and I both heard "bad" instead of "bitch"?

TragicMonkey is right: Auditory pareidolia is a thing. I was expecting to hear "bitch" but despite several times, I heard only "bad". I'd have preferred to hear "bitch" just to confirm what I already think about Trump, but I just didn't hear it.

Nor can I find any supporting source for the claim he called her a bitch in that video.

ETA: That video was taken just after or just before Biden announced he was dropping out. That was July 21 and a NYT article just out today about Trump calling Harris a bitch makes no reference to that video.
For those who cannot access the NYT, it's discussed in Vanity Fair.

Yeah, I'm gonna say "bad" as well. Especially the word before ******* is undeniably 'so', and even in Trumps decaying state he wouldn't be saying 'so ********** bitch'.
