2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker

I misread that as meaning "not Trump" was a negative. Phew, glad I figured it out.
I've seen stuff of this sort about Biden for some time now. I'm of his and Trump's generation and was certainly not raised to behave like they do. But my biggest objection to Joe is he's too damn old.

I don't really like ANY of the candidates all that much so far. Can we just repeal the 22nd and have Obama?

No, but maybe if a million or so of you beg his wife to run and she agrees, you're home.

She would beat Trump and any of the current weak crop of Democrats by the length of the front straight at Indianapolis Speedway. Class, style, brains, empathy - she has everything Trump wishes he had.

Michelle for 2020!

(I have said this before, and I know she's tipped water on it, but ask her to think of her grandchildren's country.)

I actually thought about that when I posted, but unfortunately she's too smart to do it. And of course, she's also actually a man....

So, would he want to be called President Pete?
President Mayor Pete, natch.

I’ve seen his name and am not acquainted with John Feces about the guy and have been pronouncing it with my lip reading as “Butty-gig” but searching it tonight, according to the Daily Dot, he supposedly has a sign that says “pronounced boot-edge-edge”.

I think he has a built in handicap there for election.
His husband suggests “Buddha judge.” Works pretty well, I think.

I'm guessing if he got selected, Trump would go with "Butt-plug". After "Pocahontas" and defending the size of his hands manhood, there won't be anything sacred in the debates.

Given Michelle Obama not standing, (and just think how much she'd raise on the first day!) I think the choice should be Bernie + Warren. It covers all the liberal bases, Bernie is clearly not Trump, and in the field as it stands, he's easily the best you've got.

Sad admission, but pragmatic, I think.

I don't agree but I understand why you feel that way. I put Sanders and Warren in the same category, too easy to sound-bite defeat.

I don't think being a woman is encumbered the same way. And old white guy has more baggage on that symbolic issue alone than anyone female.

A grown-up response would have been, "I'm sorry I made her feel uncomfortable," not "I don't remember her showing any discomfort, but gee, it sure is great that she can express her feelings like that."
Pretty sure those are not incongruent responses.

It was old man stupid creepy. There's no corroborating evidence it had any real sexual assault intent.

I just grabbed the first link I saw - and as always, regardless of the source, it appears to have been 100% correct. He denies it.

Yeah it does, except more cowardly than coming out and saying "That did not happen".

Given Biden's atrocious record of assaulting women & girls, I know who I believe here.

Except they are actual crimes.

I've given you several examples of people being arrested, charged and found guilty of crimes less than Biden committed.

Did you not see the one I linked where the guy got arrested for kissing a girl's hand? Unlike Joe, he didn't grab her breast area while doing it, so Biden's crimes are much worse than that guy's.

Like this: (note to mods - these are hosted on my own site which is listed in FM as an approved site)

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Considering the boxer didn't grab the reporter's tits when he kissed her, I agree there's no equivalence, because Biden's are much worse.

Oh, you mean how he kissed her on the lips?

Ok

Let's stop all this arguing by making a small social experiment.

You go down to the nearest mall today, find a little girl and do this to her:

[qimg]http://charman.co.nz/creepyjoebiden3.JPG[/qimg]

When you get up off the floor from the dad having punched you in the face a few times, see if there are any cops coming to arrest you and let me know how you get on.

Meanwhile, someone's clearly reading the script: here's HuffPo's seven reasons Biden shouldn't run.
You got any evidence none of those were photo-shopped?

I've seen Boota Judge and Budda Jidge. I will continue to refer to him as Mayor Pete. ETA: Mayor Pete says he raised 7 million in the first quarter. I express skepticism solely because of the wording of his tweet:

"This is just a preliminary analysis, but our team’s initial report shows we raised over $7 million dollars in Q1 of this year," Buttigieg wrote on Twitter. "We (you) are out-performing expectations at every turn. I'll have a more complete analysis later, but until then: a big thank you to all our supporters."

How hard is it today to be able to say that you raised over $7 million? Are they waiting to see if the checks bounce or the credit cards don't match. Or just being (gasp) conservative and under-promising and over-delivering? Either way the amount is not unimpressive.

Yes, this thread.

They're official US Federal videos held in the archives. All the comments have agreed they're real footage and if they could be disputed, they absolutely would be. There isn't any doubt they portray exactly what happened.

It wasn't the right that tarred and feathered Franken and rode him out of the Senate on a rail.

Have you had your eyes checked? You see right/ left in everything. If I meant "right wing pearl clutchers", well I could've and would've said "right wing pearl clutchers".

Setting aside Biden's penchant for public... nuzzling

Biden has a long track record as a fairly conservative Democrat, and much of that might be a liability if he enters the primary. He presided over the Anita Hill hearings, which have not aged well in the context of #metoo. He was also a fierce opponent of school busing, which turned out to be the only effective way to desegregate schools.

People remember Biden as Obama's VP, and that conjures up lots of fuzzy, warm memories. Once people look at his career long enough, they might detect something a bit more unsavory under the Obama sheen.

Joe Biden's inner circle doesn't believe that the right is behind his current #metoo woes, either:

Joe Biden advisers believe coverage of allegations of inappropriate behavior is being stoked by rival Democrats — a dynamic that could actually fire up the vice president at a time when others see success as increasingly improbable.

Why it matters: Several around Biden think advisers to Bernie Sanders are at least partly behind the anti-Biden campaign. One prominent backer thinks Biden will run, and "is ready to kill Bernie."

That said, the right is certainly enjoying Joe's time in the cross-hairs. Here are a bunch of hilarious memes.

They certainly are - couple of very good ones there. Tim Young's definitely.

I'm really disappointed. I wanted to see mass attack ads funded by right-wing PACs, but it looks like the Dems want the field narrowed and Joe's in the middle of the rapids without a paddle.

Photoshopped or not, I just don't believe Biden is intentionally feeling up little girls.

On another note SG, I'm curious about which candidate you are supporting. I assume it will be a woman, but which one?

I mentioned earlier how odd it is that Mayor Pete is not a fan of the Clinton economy of the 1990s. Turns out there's a good reason for that:

The father of Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg was a Marxist professor who spoke fondly of the Communist Manifesto and dedicated a significant portion of his academic career to the work of Italian Communist Party founder Antonio Gramsci, an associate of Vladimir Lenin.

Joseph Buttigieg, who died in January at the age of 71, immigrated to the U.S. in the 1970s from Malta and in 1980 joined the University of Notre Dame faculty, where he taught modern European literature and literary theory. He supported an updated version of Marxism that jettisoned some of Marx and Engel's more doctrinaire theories, though he was undoubtedly Marxist.

This thread is great. 90% of the posts are coming from hard core Republicans who want to bash every single Democrat. Beto is too young and comes from money. Mayor Pete is secretly a communist. Elizabeth Warren is a phoney. Biden is too friendly.

This is the game plan people. A shotgun approach to trashing anyone with a D after their name.
