2016 The Movie

The film talks about some of the things Obama has done that other democratic presidents would not do. For example where he sent back the bust of Winston Churchill, the man who greatly helped defeat the Nazi's. The film implies it was because of Churchhill's association with colonialism. Also how Obama supports Argentina over England with regards to the Falklands. And how he supports other countries to drill for offshore oil but discourages the US to do it.

It also seems to say that Obama and his half brother (who was depicted as living in a shack in Aftica) do not have a good relationship because his half brother says his country (I think it was Nigeria) would have been better off to have let the whites stay. His half brother says South Korea, South Africa, and other countries are much better off economy wise because they worked with the whites.

The film also implies Obama doesn't seem to mind Iran having nuclear weapons.

Obama didn't send back the bust of Winston Churchill.

Didn't bother to read your own link, did you?

UPDATE: Jake Tapper of ABC got to the bottom of the story: there are two Churchill busts. One is permanently stored in the Presidential Residence of the White House, given to the White House during the Nixon Years. The one stored in the Oval Office during George W. Bush's administration was on loan from the UK's government art collection.

Sculptor Sir Jacob Epstein made two busts of Churchill. One bust, part of the UK government's art collection, was "uniquely lent" to George W. Bush personally as head of state of the US, and after Bush left office and could no longer keep it (since he was no longer head of state nor at the White House he no longer occupied), that bust was put on display at the British Ambassador's residence in Washington, DC. The other bust of Churchill is still right where it's always been, ever since Johnson (not Nixon) was president.

In the White House.

So much for Obama's banishment of Churchill due to anger over colonialism.

I think you have got those facts pretty much right IIRC the film content. I'm not really sure why Barack and George don't get along, but George can certainly talk for himself. Which he was given the opportunity to do in the film.

Yeah, the WH tried to say one thing and got caught on it....that bust was returned in spite of the British trying to allow us to keep it another four years.

I just saw a commercial for this movie. It claims to be non-partisan....
I'd agree with that.

So, DOC, do you now understand that President Obama did not send the bust back because he thought W. Churchill was a symbol of colonialism?

So you agree your point was a meaningless distraction. got it.
So you agree that Maher is actually nothing but a shock jock, trying to score points in a discussion with rigged and canned audience laughter?

  • Maher argued that the health care law ....was a “blowjob” to the health insurance companies.
  • When D’Souza tried to defend his allegations, Maher asked him (D'Souza) “how far up [his] ass” he had to go to think up that claim.

Still defending your Brilliant Maher Interview, joobz? Your link, not mine. So was it a blowjob to the health insurance companies? You really want to pursue this?

Naw....

Non sequitur. Just like your previous appeal to the box office.

yes. I stand by the statement that dinesh was trounced on his claim that Obama policies were unprecedented.

I agree that maher was wrong about the blowjob comment, but he wasn't wrong about the healthcare plan being a previously republican plan.

He also completely nailed Dinesh with the "you don't know Obama" tag line.. It's really transparently sad.

Who cares about a bust of Winston Churchill? Wake me when Obama rappels down Mt. Rushmore and chisels a Hitler mustache on Washington.

I am pretty sure that President Obama is not going to do that.

If he really wanted a Hitler mustache on Washington, he would order the HAARP staff to find the right frequency to make a mustache on Washington. If those magical radio waves can steer hurricanes they can surely carve granite, right?

The article is not clear how or why the bust was sent back to the British Embassy. I have a feeling they didn't ask for it back. If they did specifically ask for it back you would think they (or the white house) would have said so.

ETA: I get the feeling if the White house wanted the bust they could have kept it with one phone call to the British Embassy.

I get the feeling that US Diplomats are more classy than asking for a gift from the UK

Yup. Obamas evil anti Colonialism crystallized in hate fueled attacks against democracy like
1. Business friendly stimulus package
2. Bailout of GM and saving millions of jobs.
3. The death of bin laden.
4. Establishing a republican style health care reform package.

But all of these democracy hating Actions are nothing compared to the bust that was returned to the UK. Proof that OBama is filled with rage...
