2016 The Movie

You think, mhaze, that D'Souza really knows Obama. But here's another guy who REALLY knows Obama. Sadly, both of these insightful experts cannot be right. As our resident Obama CTist, please clear up the mystery: who is right?

Large numbers of nude and sexually explicit pictures of Ann Dunham taken in Davis's house in 1960 does not prove the biological father of Obama was Frank Davis. Good friends (of one sort or another) they were known to be.

Color me unimpressed.

Good discussion about the movie 2016 passing 20M in sales, starting about 2:40 in this interview.

Like I said earlier, I call this movie about 6 on a scale of 10, but that's pretty good for a documentary. Good enough to go to the theater and see it? Not for me, I like action movies. But it's worth watching on Netflix for sure.

So I was just out running some errands and I see several people standing by the side of the road with a couple of signs and a Don't Tread on Me flag. One of the signs read "Never forget 9-11." But the other one said "2016Themovie.com." Oy.

2016 Obama’s America grossed $26.2M by end of today (give or take some bucks) and passed 4 of Michael Moore’s five political documentaries to become the #2 all-time biggest.....

  • Moore’s Sicko (2007 – $24.5M)
  • Oscar-winner Bowling For Columbine (2002 – $21.5M)
  • Capitalism: A Love Story (2009 – $14.3M)
  • Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004
....2016 Obama’s America also has passed the box office for Al Gore’s and Davis Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth (2006)

How 'bout that.

Its success was aided by savvy marketing: exhibitors were reporting busloads arriving at theaters around the country in pre-organized trips. It also employed much of the same selling techniques used to garner attention and support for faith-based films, understandable since the audience is overlapping. Its campaign included advertising nationally on talk radio and cable news channels including Fox News Channel, A&E, History and MSNBC.

Yes. How 'bout that.

It's in 270 more theaters this weekend than it was in over the Labor Day weekend, but is making less than half of what it made per theater.

I'd say it's peaked a little too early to have any effect on the election. It's an impressive run, and I'm sure Dinesh is happy to be able to fatten his bank account by pandering to the religious right again, but he'll be splitting that audience with Last Ounce of Courage this weekend. As far as box office goes, I think the best days of 2016 are behind it.

Nyet.

I kind of liked KickAss myself.

Far better movie, only 48M gross.

Bet the DVD is out before November.

I like to imagine what would have happened if Obama had REQUESTED a bust of Churchill...

"Why does Obama want a statue of a FOREIGN leader? Why doesn't he put up a bust of George Washington? Does he really hate our Founding Fathers that much?!?!"

"Why does Obama want a bust of a BRITISH leader? Could it be that Britain is a SOCIALIST country!!! Wake Up America!!! This guy worships socialism and Karl Marx. He wants to turn America into a socialist dictatorship! He wants a national health care system that would let people like Stephen Hawking die on the street! Wake Up!!!!!!!!!!

So here's our little review of this movie. I felt awful paying 10 bucks to watch the movie. Anyhoo, we are obviously amateurs, and it's kind of along the lines of Wayne's World minus humor or charisma, but at least I got to play some banjo

I haven't seen the movie, but your question about why "anti-colonial" is "anti-American" (especially considering how "anti-colonial" sentiments were responsible for the creation of our country) just underscores how desperately D'Souza must be stretching to find something negative to say about Obama.

That the evidence supporting this accusation is "he doesn't covet a bust of Winston Churchill" says something about the target audience, and even more about how D'Souza views the critical thinking ability of that audience.

That the "evidence" is really "he doesn't covet another bust of Winston Churchill, even though there's already a bust of Winston Churchill in the White House" says even more about that audience.

As DOC and his Breitbart link has already shown in this thread.

"The audience" will run with whatever nonsense the Republican propaganda machine tells them to, facts be damned.

Oh, no doubt about that.

This is exactly the sort of movie a lot of people WOULD NOT go to the theater to pay for and watch, but would check out on Netflix or DVD.

Movie attendance goes down. Every year.

False conclusions, false premises. He explains those relationships quite well.

Looks like the goal is not Neflix/DVD, but TV.

Now that we know the "you dont know Obama" tagline to be hipocritical nonsense, i suggest a new one.

2016 - the 2012 swift boat veteran for truth.

Clearly you don't know Obama (or how to speill)

:)

Sure he does.

Hey, with all the millions he's earned at the box office, I'm sure D'Souza can bump Wayne's World in a bunch of battleground states.

Go for it.
wayne's world? Ya think? > 180M gross world wide.

why would you think that after absorbing the facts about Obama put forth in the movie, some people wouldn't say...

"Now that's my kinda guy, I sure gonna for for him".
