    When we moved to Xenfora some of the signature options didn't come over. In the old software signatures were limited by a character limit, on Xenfora there are more options and there is a character number and number of lines limit. I've set maximum number of lines to 4 and unlimited characters.

Trump Assassination Attempt Conspiracy Theories

Lots of questions come immediately to mind, the main one being:

How did anyone with a weapon get into striking range? Did Trump insist the mags (magnetometers -- metal/weapon detectors) not be used, like he wanted at his Jan 6 rally? ("Hey, they aren't here to hurt me!!!")

Weapon? A BB gun was suggested but we'll find out in short notice.

There could have been no better result (for Trump) than what happened. An apparently minor injury in a non-critical place. And prominent enough to be able to show off the bandage for some time. A soon-to-be-iconic photo, perfectly staged, some say. (At any rate, kudos to the photographer!)

If I were inclined to conspiracy theories I might speculate that it's all a put up job to boost Trump. If I were inclined to foment conspiracies, I might well suggest that. In actual fact, I think it's more likely some deranged idiot, doing a stupid thing. Exactly who it was and exactly what they intended hardly matters. It's wrong from every angle.
 
Photos appear to show the shooter was on the roof of a building outside the perimeter. BBC interviewed someone who claimed he told the police about a guy with a rifle, but they didn't seem to act with much urgency.
 
Antifa should've hired Alec Baldwin. He succeeds without even trying!

The security breach is what I'm the most curious about, other than the political views of the shooter, of course. How did anyone get a gun within striking range of the former Führer and current Führer candidate. I know Dump hires 'the best people', but Secret Service, thank god, operates independently of him. Weird that they would mess up like this.

I'm not a CTer, of course, I know this is like asking how the terrorists got can opener onto a plane on 9/11. It's just surprising to me.

No need to. This is horrible, but not because I care the least bit about Dump. I don't want him to become a martyr, and I know this will cause ripple effects that will get others hurt, probably killed. Most likely including innocents. The far-right has gone after people in the US and Europe lately already, this will rile them up even more.

In isolation, though? **** him. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. He's been actively polarizing the country and advocating and celebrating violence since 2016. He got what was coming to him.

I don't think it's like that at all. Airport security was much more lax then (and I think it was box cutters -- razor blades in a housing.) And since Reagan got shot, Secret Service Security has been improved by orders of magnitude. But, missing a line-of-sight, rooftop potential firing line, especially for a former President and current candidate? Incompetence.

Edit: to be fair, though, I meant it more like "people thought it was weird that they managed to board the plane with can openers, but there was a perfectly reasonable explanation for that. The same way, I think it's weird that someone would manage to get within firing range of Dump with a gun, but it's possibly harder than I imagined to cordon off such a big area, especially in the age of with high-powered long-range weapons."
I believe you when you say incompetence, though. Seems it'd be easy to have a presence on that roof.

I watched news of the shooting and it was not a BB gun.
 
One website has already identified the shooter by name and antifa affiliation within a few hours of the shooting.

It has been reported that the shooter was outside of the fenced in area where the event was taking place. Other reports say it was an AR-15 type rifle. But the press says that about any rifle that is black and with a detachable magazine.

I'm curious about the crazy talk about his shoes. My guess is, since he had those 3-inch (or whatever) lifts, when he went down he popped out of them. He wasn't going to be seen leaving the stage three inches shorter than when he got up there.

Clearly, Biden only did what the Supreme Court said was part of his Core Presidential Powers : order a hit on his political rival.
NOT doing so would have been against the Constitution!
 
Here's something from a more public forum than here: Trump got hit by a round from an assault rifle. Those rounds are notorious for chewing up flesh. But first pics of Trump's ear show no obvious impact damage whatever. It would be expected he would at least have some chunks taken out if he was genuinely hit. But the pics show just a normal apparently undamaged ear with a few drops of blood running from the tip. So was he REALLY shot? If not, where did the blood come from?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if Biden ordered it, the job wouldn't have gone to a 20 year-old kid who couldn't get a head shot at "a few hundred feet".

The perp being a Republican gives me hope it'll be a disgruntled Dump supporter. Like when July 22nd turned out to be a Norwegian fascist and not an islamist. That might douse some of the anger towards the left, although of course some will call it fake news or blame Biden and the media anyway.
 
If it's any help, I read on Twitter that Trump wasn't hit by a bullet, but by a shard of glass from an autocue that was right next to him and was shattered by the bullet.

Interesting. I assume that's another word for a teleprompter. Is any of this visible in the video? Trump's kind of famous for ad-libbing, for better or worse, more than reading from a teleprompter.

Dunno really. I don't think the bullet in the photo touched him. I don't think there's any photographic evidence of the autocue shattering, but people were saying that if a bullet from that sort of gun had even grazed his ear, the ear would be pulp.
 
Well .. he was also wearing MAGA hat. He only removed it after he ducked down. The bullet could graze the cap which could cut his ear. It's not really that important.
Could it be faked ? Yes. But USSS would have to be on it.

Did security see him? Did they just see a man pointing at something? Did they know that he was trying to send a signal to them? Or did they think he was trying to communicate with friends?

I wouldn't put much stock in the speculations of people on Twitter. I rewatched the video and didn't see any sort of autocue anywhere near him, so this seems like a contrived speculation to me.

Now there may have been more than one bullet, so it's certainly possible that that one isn't actually the one that hit him.
