I presume you mean, until they have 8 year old children/nieces/nephews of their own.

As a matter of completely irrelevant information - but interesting (to me) at least - "niece"/"nephew" also mean "the illegitimate daughter/son of an ecclesiastic who has taken a vow of celibacy".

You live and learn. That's today's useless information to be trotted out at some future date when of marginal (no) relevance.

They might temporarily move some of the more popular pieces to some other location for display. They tend to do that when closing wings of their museums.

It answers why the renovation costs so much. It doesn't answer WHY the renovation should take place at all. They have to dismantle, clean and remount every specimen? Why can't they just hose them down? And I still don't buy it. After all, this is the federal government we're talking about here. There's got to be pork and graft built into the bottom line. Not to mention the inevitable cost overruns.

As the article notes, the bones are going to be cleaned, remounted, strengthened, and more and there's apparently going to be a fair bit of structural work done on the building itself.
