Because Russia action's will help lead to the downfall of the West and the Glorious People's Revolution.
CE has also been a pretty strong defender of Iran and Islamic fundamentalism.....until Syria which all of a sudden she made the discoverty that Al Quida was bad......
I missed this turn of events. What did Al-Qaida do that made CE all of a sudden disown them?

Thanks for proving my point. ;)

As to the thread in CT - I have no idea why CL finds it useful to waste time in boring word games with people like you, but you shouldn't assume that just because nobody cares to say otherwise, you have the majority behind you. I for one can't be bothered to even read the walls of irrelevancies. You can find my opinion about the sniper issue over at the wiki CL keeps linking, btw. I'm that "CE".

Irrelevancies = things you don't like and can't answer, evidently.

What I can't stomach is people who will shriek about rendition, NSA spying, and NATO actions taking a positive glee in a man like Putin tearing a country apart and threatening others over their energy supply.

And it seems Russia the rogue state lead by the desperate despot putin is busy building up their forces on Ukraine's border....

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/apr/10/satellite-images-russian-military-ukraine-border

Finally some facts! Hmmmm.... 22nd of March ... if there is a buildup more current photos must show even more hardware! They must have more pics. Why not show those that have 3 weeks of buildup more than the ones released?

What *was* in that vial collin powell held up at the UN?

Well, it is evident Putin is spying on high-ranking members of the Estonian govenrment. FSB had that recoring of talks with Timoshenko released, after all - positive proof he's doing what he was shrieking about NSA. Just in case anyone is wondering who Snowden fled to and all that. I do wonder if he has any doubts now, when it's rather clear who and what he serves.

It's basically hatred of civilized world, no more and no less.

It seems their thinking works like this: when we do bad things, it proves we're bad. When they do bad things, it's an obvious result of others doing bad things and therefore somehow totally fine.

That they manage to overcome the cognitive dissonance and say this with a straight face is pretty impressive, actually.

One thing I really don't get is what Putin is hoping to acomplish with all of this? A permanent border change where Russia gulps down chunks of eastern Ukraine? That seems to be the best he can hope for, truth to be told. But why? There isn't anything particular worth taking there, some industries and land, yes, but in what is essentially a petrostate, those don't really rank very high. Certainly the cost of military to garrison it will offset any gains in tax base.

So, um, what else is there to gain? He certainly won't get loyalty in return from the rest of Ukraine. In the la-la-la land scenario he may force Ukraine to accept Russian dominance, but what will that accomplish? It won't be security, I can guarantee that, and having a buffer between Russia and Romania really doesn't appear that critical.

I propose it's one of three scenarios, which are not mutually exclusive:
a) it's a part of a delusional grand vision where he's the new Ivan IV or something, bringing glory and wealth to Russia
b) it's a simple act of anger being vented on a not submissive vassal, to put the others back in line
c) it's an internal project, to rally the people behind him - support we see now is faked, he knows the actual poll numbers and they aren't pretty

I expect there will be fun times when the latest pre$$titude propaganda drivel taken to this thread can be shown to find its expression in the UCMC press briefings of the day. I'll certainly take a look from time to time and encourage others to do so as well. :)

Evidence for NATO being what tore Libya and Syria apart please. Last time I checked NATO didn't get involved in either before the two were already in a shooting war. Also evidence NATO was what changed the government in Ukraine.

If NATO is as powerful as you claim, why didn't it incite a revolt in Moscow? in Teheran? Why dance around a problem when you can deal with it directly?

I call Poe on TheRealnz.

Lmao, you're asking for evidence that NATO didn't bomb Libya back into jihadi-stone age. You seriously believe the West and its allies (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia most particularly) has nothing to do with the Syrian protests and the war that ensued?

If you'll recall the protests began in Tunisia and Egypt, two western allies, toppling their governments first, and then spread to all of Arab world. In retrospect and given what's happening in Ukraine it's actually more likely it was the work of Putin in Tunisia and Egypt which backfired on him in Libya and Syria.

Furthermore, there was no reason for Quackdaffi to treat protesters as foreign invaders, sending all his military might against them. The vast majority of the blame for the events in Libya, regardless of what triggered the Arab spring, lies with him and his inner circle.

I wish to amend this with:
d) Putin sought to coherce Ukraine for defying him by threatening to take Crimea. When that didn't work, he felt it was necessary to do it, and now he wants to punish the county further for it's defiance.

It's a variant on points a) and b), above, but more specific.

This kind of reply to a request for evidence has become something of a staple for you. You need to remember that you are at a critical thinking forum. A request for evidence is best answered with evidence.

This is awesome!
The bestest russian-troop-counter the Ukraine has to offer singlehandedly averted a russian invasion by predicting a russian invasion!
See, now that everybody knew that russia was going to invade, they couldn't invade anymore, because the premier loves suprises.

Where is the article is this described as the best counter to Russian troops? It's one of the counters, and a fairly good one - Putin will have a (much) harder time selling the same lie as in Crimea, especially since his actions have been predicted in advance.

The best counter would be to make plans to destroy crucial infrastructure, should the invasion occur. Ukraine could easily have done so. Then Russia is set to deal with the triple mess of an illegal invasion, illegal occupation, and being responsible to fixing a ruined economy of the area. Not even the mighty petrostate is immune to bankruptcy.

counter as in counting.
And you know hes the bestest because he always has the highest number!
That's as certain as Putin being the new new hitler!
