Looking for Skeptics

... When that file is played through this PC (all being well) it should alter with obvious differences, also altering the original file and any other copies made.

This is somewhat reassuring, in that it is a cannonical sign of pareidolia; once a pattern is believed to have been recognised, it is very difficult to 'unrecognise' it, which means it will subsequently be recognised in all accurate copies of the original.

It would be much more interesting if each copy elicited a different pattern perception, which (assuming identical digital copies and identical hardware) would suggest it wasn't pareidolia.

I say it's reassuring because it suggests that this particular effect isn't due to schizophrenia-type voices, which one would not expect to repeat themselves this way. Of course, it doesn't rule out some other disorder causing this unusual degree of apophenia.

To be realistic, I could be dealing with a bunch of religious spirits who replicate signs of Christ with no real outcome. So far I've witnessed raised dead? 2 healings and 75 pieces of art intended for charity. I can't overlook that something so positive is afoot. The fact that they harp on about Angels, creatures and the devil, I'd say if there is a spirit world, that sort of conversation would be their norm.

Why does the spirit world look so much like what humans expect it too?

2 random thoughts:

1. I've followed this thread since the beginning and have read every post. Yet when Flaccon posts I feel like there are huge chunks of the conversation that I haven't seen. It seems she constantly casually mentions some new data as if we've been discussing it the whole time.

2. I'd love to see a thread like this sometime where the only responder is Pixel42.

Why do you hate Pixel42?

Just bumping this as I would like an answer please flaccon:

flaccon, I'd like to know something if you please:

While we are sitting here discussing pictures of stuff and having a jolly old time, what precisely are 'the press' and your 'P.I team' doing?

This is clearly a troll thread.

Do you honestly think Flaccon is open to utilizing any of our attempts to help?

If someone was able to help Flaccon, do you not think that it would be rationalized out of existence by the 'demons' or whatever Flaccon is claiming to see?

This is a win-lose.

Flaccon gets to say "Even the skeptics can't explain it", and even if the skeptics can explain it, they won't ever get credit or actually have the plan carried out by Flaccon.

Exactly. I've said this before, but it takes a staggering level of arrogance to sustain a paranormal belief while rejecting others (no one can possibly accept every supernatural claim), because it ultimately comes down to a belief that other people can be fooled or make mistakes, but you're uniquely objective. This thread is just another example of an old problem.

You need to read some of the threads at CluesForum. I know Conspiracy Theory is not, strictly speaking, what you mean here by "supernatural claims"; but the level of magical thinking those guys need to resort to in order to sustain their beliefs certainly qualifies their worldview as a religion.

@Drewbot:

I thought that this looked like a troll/Poe at first, but then Alderbank actually visited Tracey at her home, and it seems that she is simply a delusional woo of the highest order who actually does believe the nonsense she posts, but is not of even a reasonable intellect to understand a basic (but thorough) explanation of pareidolia.

I agree there is no hope that she will ever see the light, so all we can do now is try to enjoy the fact that she is at least continuing to post here.

This is still my favourite thread.

It's my favourite thread since Visionfromfeeling in fact

There have been no other comparable threads recently of this calibre.

I can understand the fun-times available when a woo agrees to participate in a thread.

Some of my fondest memories are of confronting Neil Burgstahler about 4th dimensional Bigfoots. I was eventually labeled an NSA operative, with a prime-directive of convincing Americans that there was no such thing as Bigfoot.

Well you did a great job because luckily, not so many American's believe in such a creature...

... OK, still a few and that's a few too many but on the whole I'm sure you earned your paycheck. :D

Ah, VFF.
Do you remember Ben Franklin's ghost?

Kumar's threads can be fun and the last one was most instructive, but yes, flaccon's willingness to actually participate and engage ASKE, etc., make her posts much more engaging than Kumar's.
In addition I'm learning a lot in this thread about the reproduction of sound, so that puts in this thread in the #1 spot for me as well.

The cynic in me suspects she engaged/will engage ASKE the same as she has engaged us, here. Grand claims at the beginning which become ethereal under scrutiny and untestable through lack of cooperation. The pattern is established.
