Rick Perry to not run again

Yeah, he almost had the nomination...for about a week, until he flew the plane straight into the mountain.

You can say that about a bunch of the GOP Candidates in 2012.....

But Perry's crash and burn was so spectacular that you have to think that it has done serious and probably fatal damage to his presidential ambitions as far as attracting any of the really big and powerful GOP power brokers. There are simply too many much better bets around.

His own ego and arrogance.

p.s. On a personal note, I wish people would quit acting like Austin is the one bastion of sanity in the state. San Antonio is moving up. It's not Austin's mayor that's working to turn the state blue (or at least purple), or was invited to make the keynote address at the Democratic national convention, or is being mentioned as a possible candidate for statewide or national office. Besides, San Antonio has the Riverwalk and Fiesta. :D

Awww! Foolmewunz is sorry, your majesty.

(And Houston has a whole lot of blue in the map nowadays, too. Pretty sure there are bastions of "moderacy" in and around Dallas.)

We graciously accept your apology. Just don't let it happen again. :p

And my remarks weren't directed at you - more at the "body of work" in the forum. ;)

Yep, Wendy Davis of the pink shoes and awesome filibuster is from Ft. Worth.

At the time, I referred to Romney as the least offensive clown in the circus. Perry was the one who got his foot snagged on the car door on the way out and the car ran over his legs as it drove out of the ring.

If he had any ability at self-effacing humor, he might be able to play it for the "Purple Heart" status.

More important is the comment on Romney, though. Maybe Perry is hoping that the same cluster-fornication of maroons will wind up in the primaries and it'll be his turn to be the least onerous.

I guess it all depends on which muppet the wannabe kingmakers want to pave the road for in 2016. If their delusions of carte blanche from 2012 have been shattered, mark my words they'll do a better job at pretending to actually care about the nation. IOW it's anyone's guess what Perry does in the next few years.

That said, the paranoid old white people who vote for these skid marks are decreasing in number every day, and they're making fewer and fewer of them.

OK, so Perry is back in. I think Santorum will be back too. But we're losing some real champs in Gingrich, Bachmann and Cain. Who can replace them? Especially Cain.

Palin is hopefully out as well.

Carl Person, Tim Pawlenty?

From Wiki:

I wonder why Rubio is not on this list.

Palin and Trump will never run in any election. Any hints they make in that direction are pure BS. Any news outlet crediting either one with candidacy is foolish or toolish.

Pawlenty is boring. We saw that last time. He's not what I'm looking for. Rand seems to be running, and that's good. I think he's got a lot of gaffe to give. Rubio seems to be in decent position, but may want to burnish his position for a better chance in 2020.

Rand is already giving gaffe. One of his aides is a neo-Confederate and John Wilkes Booth fan.

The Donald?

Clint Eastwood?
The Donald will not run but it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that a some point in 2015/2016 he will say that someone is encouraging him to run and that of course he would be the best person for the job and he's looking in to it.

Rand Paul will be like daddy:Get a lot of publicity but in the end will be too far out in some of his ideas for the Powers That Be in the GOP.
And maybe not even that. Rand seems,so far, unable to attract the kind of blind devotees who made up his father's core support.

And he is trying to do an impossible balancing act:Attract his father's anti Establishment followers while not scaring off the Establishment Republicans. So far he shows little sign of able to pull that off.
