Rick Perry to not run again

And, oh, my God, now Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (on record as saying he sees his job as suing the federal government) is coming to San Antonio to make an announcement. Why do they have to come here to dump their crap? What's wrong with Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, or El Paso? El Paso would be good - that way they're almost in New Mexico.

Isn't it because of the Alamo is there? You know, the place where a bunch of illegal immigrants were annihilated by government troops.

Actually most of the people in the Alamo were legal immigrants...and about one fourth of the garrison were Hispanics who disliked Santa Ana.
The Texas War was a lot more complex then the ideologues on both sides of the spectrum like to admit.......
 
Rick "It takes balls to execute an innocent man" Perry, is a disgrace. If you wonder why Southern states are viewed as stuck in the 19th century - Rick Perry and Joe Arpaio are why.
The moderator then continued: "Have you struggled to sleep at night with the idea that any one of those might have been innocent?"

The death penalty is okay if we think they're bad guys, regardless of evidence. It's a pretty ballsy statement given the number of number of deathrow inmates exonerated by new dna evidence and his own involvement with at least one deathrow conviction

Given today's state of affairs, if he ran as GOP primary, they'd basically be handing the Democratic primary's election on a silver plate. But yes, let's keep being surprised why 'republican' is being viewed as an insult as it coopts ridiculous rightwing views way outside of the old GOP.

I don't want to get into a Death Penalty debate but quite a few states in the North and West have the Death Penalty. You can't single out the South for that.

So is San Antonio - Obama carried Bexar County in both elections, I think. I'm sure the people who said it's because of the Alamo and Cradle of Texas Liberty and all that are right. I just wish Perry, Abbott and their ilk would go away.

And, ironically, Abbot made his announcement in Plaza Juarez, in the middle of La Villita, which is part of the original Spanish settlement. I guess 295-year-old immigrants are okay. :rolleyes:
