Michele Bachmann won't seek reelection in 2014

I think Bachmann is doing a "half governor" thing. She probably figures she can make 5 times as much money, legally, by talking to morons for fees, and most likely there is a wingnut book already in the wings.

Close.

A new novel billed as an "old-fashioned bodice ripper romance" was inspired by the life of tea party champion and 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), the book's publisher claimed.

Fires of Siberia, written by Tréy Sager, centers around Danielle Powers, a presidential candidate "full of firebrand pluck and red state sex appeal," according to the book's press release.

This has got to be an absolute page-turner.

There goes the Democrats' chance of picking up this seat.
:D
Sadly, you're probably right. That district is so far right that they've elected a lying, law-breaking, bat-**** crazy woman for multiple terms. The bar is so low there for Republicans that whoever is nominated by the GOP will probably win, even if they are lying, law-breaking and bat-**** crazy. So long as it hasn't been publicized yet.

I agree. Though I think it fair to note that she didn't win by all that much last time. I think the voters were slowly getting wise to her idiocy.

Like pigs in ****

Right! We're the ones who are like pigs. Not someone like Bachmann who, when asked about the lies she just made about the Obama's "lavish" lifestyle at the CPAC convention answers by claiming the reporter is trying to bring up something trivial when the real story is only Benghazi. [ETA: She even sought to evade questions about her egregious lies about the first family by claiming that President Obama doesn't care about the 4 deaths at Benghazi! One scurrilous whopper to cover another!]

Applecorped, can you defend her behavior at all?

It's not pig-like to criticize and condemn this sort of behavior in members of Congress.

Yup. However, even your run-of-the-mill Republican would be an improvement over that lying, crazy bigot.

Yep. When you're standing at the South Pole, the only direction you can go is North.

There is little room to do any worse than Bachmann. Her retirement is good for the country.

Jim Graves nearly unseated Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) when he challenged her in the 2012 election, and the Democratic underdog was determined to try again next year. But now that Bachmann has announced she won't run for a fifth term after all, Graves — a St. Cloud hotelier — is dropping out, too.

Graves says he is dropping out because his "mission" was to unseat Bachmann because she was not representing the people of the suburban 6th District "appropriately."

Political pundits say, however, the 6th District is so overwhelmingly Republican there is no way Graves could win against a more mainstream Republican candidate.

I figured she was looking to join a lobbying firm at a salary that pays a bit more than US Representative.

This^^^^

I see. As a lobbyist she can legally take much larger bribes when they are called fees and not have to worry about being introduced to a broom handle.

Not to mention, under the umbrella of a tax free "social welfare" (whatever the term) organization free to play politics in the dark without IRS scrutiny now that this is a nono.
