Nevertheless, Ahmadinejad quite regularly does say "Marg Bar Israel!" (Death to Israel!) and apparently Khamenei has said "The Zionist entity is a cancer which will be cut out of the region". By now it is pretty clear what Iranian leaders are trying to say.

And McCain, who was the presidential candidate four years ago, singed “Bomb Iran” and vehemently urged for military action against Iran, outside any decision of the Security Council.
And Bush, who was president four years ago, refused to rule out a nuclear strike against Iran.

Yes, this is my understanding as well. "Disappear" or "vanish" from the "pages of time" is pretty much how an Iranian friend of mine explained it to me. He also happens to be someone who had never heard the expression before and didn't know what I was referring to when I asked him about it but the point seemed to be that the verb was an intransitive one.

Try to use your own head for this, not that difficult!!

If a lot of media state that Ahmadinejad said “Israel must be wiped off the map” was a lie, and quote Iran` s foreign minister for that and clarifying things directly on their own sites (*), you would expect that the media who first stated the “Israel must be wiped off the map” thing to either:
1) apologize for the mistake or
2) explain that their position was correct and Ahmadinejad actually said “Israel must be wiped off the map”

What actually happened is:

Let me see if I've got it. If something is false yet but matches "the media's" bias, then it will be repeated and repeated. But if something is true it will, of course, be repeated because it is true.
