This is Gillard talking with all guns blazing. Launches an attack on Abbott who looks very uncomfortable. Start at the 3 minute mark.

This is spreading over the Internet big time.

Lesson for the day. Do not attack members of your own party, even after they have done the dirty on you and became speaker for the Government. They may remind Abbott that he attended Slipper's wedding.

This is the first thread I have started in this sub forum but this speech is just too good to ignore.

Jullia - I think your dad would be very proud of you right now

I hope what she said has a lasting effect.

I have just finished reading the (Kindle) version of 'Jonestown: The Power and the Myth of Alan Jones' by Chris Masters and so am in no mood to sympathise with Tony Abbott who, I read, has profitted for years from being a political favourite of AJ. Now, there's something to be ashamed about.

As I said in the OP it is spreading fast around the Internet. I think Labour backbenchers can sleep a bit easier now knowing they have a good PM to take them into the next election.

For another link with some choice quotes see http://jezebel.com/5950163/best-thi...misogynist-a-new-one-in-epic-speech-on-sexism

Warning. Quotes of a PM with all guns blazing are in the link.

Edit. Yes that is a good article. The last sentence says how good the speech was

After his performance last week, supporters of President Obama, watching Gillard cut through the disingenuousness and feigned moral outrage of her opponent to call him out for his own personal prejudice, hypocrisy, and aversion to facts, might be wishing their man would take a lesson from Australia.

Amazing speech - Gillard at her best when pissed off. She would have had very little time to prepare as Abbott's motion was without notice.

There's a surreal disconnect between what the MSM in Australia are reporting and the way it's going on social media - like a parallel universe. Some more good articles:

Damn. I haven't seen a curb-stomping like that in Australian parliament for many a year.

Abbott deserved every single minute of it.

Are we surprised that the “news” media in this country – lapdogs of the Liberal/National Parties every single one of them – would attempt to turn this against Gillard? The media don’t stand up against hypocrisy and misogyny because this is their stock in trade and their modus operandi.

It's just so blatant. I can't remember the last time I felt engaged enough to listen to a politician for 15 minutes. Then there's that WTF moment when you see the way it's being reported.

It was a sooky poor me dummy spit of the first order.
And yet she will defend Peter Slipper. She will also demand that Abbott apologise for comments of others, yet when her party is present and disgusting jokes are made she allows her MPs to fail her own test.

Talk about hypocritical.

Worst PM ever.

JULIA GILLARD confronted a stark choice yesterday - the political defence of her parliamentary numbers, or the defence of the principle of respect for women.

She chose to defend her numbers. She chose power over principle. It was the wrong choice. It was an unprincipled decision and turned out not to be pragmatic either. The Prime Minister gained nothing and lost a great deal…

The moment Gillard rose to defend Slipper and keep him in office, she chose to defend the indefensible, to excuse the inexcusable.

Exactly
