Are there skeptics on this forum who actually believe that there are a significant number of Palestinians who want peace?

I would assume most people in any significantly large group prefer neither to kill nor die, yes.

I've long derided the Palestinian's penchant for violence and lack of Democracy. But I honestly believe that they are as likely to want peace as the Israelis. They just have the wrong solution to attain that peace (so do the Israelis).

Going back to the thread title, "Romney Now Flip-Flopping on Foreign Policy"... the first thing I thought was, "well, there is another debate coming up and it is focused on foreign policy" so I agree with Mattus above.

I'm guessing that most people on both sides want what they would consider to be a just peace. It's just that the Palestinian idea of a just peace differs from the Israeli idea of a just peace.

This is, of course, true. The fact that two sides are at war does not mean they don't want the war to end. They just don't want "peace" to mean they end up worse off than they are now. The problem with the kind of thinking that says the Palestinians don't want peace is that it assumes that they aren't rational people with actual objectives and instead are merely suicidal and crazy. They aren't. They have what they consider to be real grievances and they want them addressed. Plus they are seeking revenge. The fact that both sides can point to insanity on the other side doesn't change this. Both sides have done horrible things. Both sides deserve blame. Both sides would be happier to have it resolved as long as they see themselves as having won.

The biggest current roadblock is Netanyahu and his sycophants in the GOP who only want to protect Israel in order for all the Jews to be killed so Jesus can return.
