Continuation: Discussion of the George Zimmerman case

Nobody said she shouldn't have reported it. The entire conversation is about it being released with the rest of the evidence. That is a complete and utter strawman!
It can be blamed (if that's the word to use) on Florida's Open Records Laws.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

That's what I'm talking about, he'd be unlikely to even understand what sexual was all about. And for that then to continue through most of the teen years? It just seems odd to me. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, just that it's extremely unusual. At least I've never heard of a similar case!

The long term nature is quite common.

If this turns out to be true, I would guess that a whole **** storm of accusations are going to follow. Why would an 8 year old be that sexually curious and dominating? AFAIK an 8 year old being that hypersexual is a strong indicator of sexual abuse.

Humans including children are sexual, sexual behavior among 8 year olds in not uncommon.

I know, those 7 year olds, full of sexual rage and frustration.

This is sad, you are engaging in denial of the sexual nature children, are you basing this upon religious beliefs, because you are mirroring them.

You are diminishing the nature of sexual assault and show a clear tendency towards ignorance.

Sexual rage and frustration do not lead to sexual assault, so add some stupid neo Freudian crap to your ignorance.

Florida must pride itself on passing bizarre laws. Sometimes it's best just to leave things in the dark. JKL or any other judge would have no choice but to release everything.

Let's see, the City of Sanford is spending $4 million dollars, we have an FDLE investigation, and an FBI investigation. All we get for that money is that Zimmerman might have fingered his cousin when he was 8.

USA! USA! USA!

It didn't happen just one time. Are you deliberately misunderstanding what she said? I can provide a transcript if you need it spelled out.

There are exceptions to discovery. It's just just some bizarre practice invented by Florida.

You seem a little bit conflicted about this. One one hand, you will call it sexual assault but here, it sounds like you are saying this is not uncommon. Is it really not uncommon for 8 year olds to sexually molest each other? By 8, a child should have a pretty good grasp on personal boundaries. When these personal boundaries are ignored, it is usually indicative of a problem.

That's fine, just as long as the understanding his, there is nothing wrong with her reporting it. We were questioning the release of it. There is a world of difference between the two. I thought open investigations can be exempt from discovery releases.

Not in FLA.

The prosecution has to provide defense with all their discovery, good, bad, indifferent.

The defense is entitled to this information.

The legislature passed laws allowing media access to that discovery, and they fight, and most often win - its release.

In another thread (not so long ago and not very far away) crimresearch chastised me thoroughly for suggesting that a Florida criminal court judge, because of their "Sunshine Laws", might not be able to seal anything he wanted to, any time he wanted to, for as long as he wanted to.

Maybe s/he can enlighten us about this apparent lapse of propriety.

Yeah that quote really doesn't make much sense. It is just another of dozens of examples that show Z's deranged thinking.

Deranged thinking? Why exactly do you think he went from "White" to become the "White Hispanic" and "Zimmerman, whose father is WHITE and whose mother is Hispanic", in the MSM, as well as newcomer to the MSM, Fox News? In case you haven't noticed, the MSM and progressives in general are anti-white male. From yesterday, Harry Reid who is white, but has to be anti-white to appeal to his base:

MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID: If this flood of outside money continues, the day after the election, 17 angry old white men will wake up and realize they’ve just bought the country.

http://freebeacon.com/reid-angry-white-men-trying-to-buy-the-election-for-romney/

As has been pointed out over and over, our half-white president is never referred to as the WHITE African-American. Why do you think that is? This whole story started out as a white giant killing a little black boy, so the "white" had to be kept alive somehow when the "little boy" turned out to be 6'2". (The coroner's measurement was length, not height. His mother has said he was 6'2", or maybe 6'3"...I don't recall exactly.)

Do you recall the judge at the first hearing asking O'Mara, "Where's Zimmerman?", when he was standing right next to O'Mara in prison garb? He was looking for the white guy and didn't see him.

IMO, if Ziimmerman's name was Jorge Meza, no one outside of Florida would have ever heard of this case, because Crump's gigantic disinformation campaign with his ever ready MSM stooges would have never been put into operation.

So no one wants to comment on the jailhouse recording wherein George says he told O'Mara about at least $37k a whole week before O'Mara presented George as indigent?

Jailhouse calls released.
1st bond hearing on 4/20/12
This call was on 4/14/12 – talks about MOM knowing about fund transfer …

GZ had been talking to his caller on the phone about MOM
@ 4.43 mark in call

GZ: I did tell him (MOM) that we tried to make one transfer of 37 and it got held up because it is over the 10, you know.

Male: ah ah

GZ: So he knows about that. um But he …

Male: Does he know about the volume

GZ: No

Male: Ok

GZ: And uh …

Male: I’d like to keep that with us

GZ: Ok I think so too.

There's old George, conspiring with someone to hide the "volume" of donations from his own lawyer.

Trustworthy guy, huh?

Florida prosecutors can indeed delay release of evidence on the basis of an "ongoing investigation", but it doesn't give them carte blanche to withhold information.

They have to convince the judge that the investigation really is "ongoing" and that the release of that information in particular would interfere with that part of the investigation. At the onset they get a lot of leeway. As time passes that can become more problematic. If the defense lawyers don't get it then the media lawyers will see to it that the question gets re-visited until they win.

Once the defense gets anything through discovery, if (for example) the defense successfully demands and receives the information then this hits the switch that turns on the Sunshine. It has just become a public court record, and a substantive argument has to be provided for it not to be released. Such demands backfired on Jose Baez not too long ago for just that reason. Then he complained that the prosecution was "leaking" prejudicial information. :boggled:

The single most straightforward statutory restriction against the release of public records in a criminal case in Florida involves autopsy photos, and that's only if the family of the deceased insists that they remain sealed.

There isn't a whole lot they can keep under wraps for very long aside from that. This is why Florida is the love child of 'current events' crime shows on TV. People like the Grace Creature milk it for all they can. They get to keep that "Breaking News" banner running twentyfour/seven, even if all they have to report is what the defendant is buying from the jail commissary.

Yes, this results in a lot of collateral damage to people who are only peripherally involved (or not involved at all) in a high visibility case. Zenaida Gonzalez comes to mind, as does Roy Kronk. But apparently Florida deems such a sacrifice to be acceptable. Whether it is or not might make good fodder for a different thread.

O'Mara told the English guy on CNN last night he would remember the 37K figure if he had ever heard it, and he had not heard it. He also said he would never risk his license for something like that.

So George was lying on the call to his BIL?

So he lied to the court, his lawyer, and his BIL or whoever that man is (I presume it's the BIL because he was the one running the PayPal, wasn't he)?

After he says he told O'Mara about a 37k transfer:

M: "I'd like to keep that between us"

GZ: "I agree [....] You can share that with Shellie"

M: "Yeah, she's up to speed".

If only there were a name for a group of people getting together to plan a crime?

...
As has been pointed out over and over, our half-white president is never referred to as the WHITE African-American. Why do you think that is?
...

If GZ were reporting him as a suspicious character, what are the odds he'd say "he looks black" - when asked what race?

The rest of the shpeel in that post is, in one word: ridiculous.
