Does that make it less true or something ?
No, but it should put it in the correct light.
Quote please.
I assumed GWCarver was saying that cash transactions were the only way to trigger the feds.
I see I misread that:
As NBS said above, and the forensic accountant said at the last hearing, cash is the only way to hide money.
Here's where NBS said what I thought GWC was referring to with "As NBS said above":
It is not $10,000 transactions that trigger alerts, it's $10,000 cash transactions that trigger alerts.
Which crim pointed out was not the only way to trigger alerts in this post:
The banks send a report of 'unusual' transactions of any amount to their in-house risk management, which looks for patterns. They decide to 'alert the authorities'.
Which caused me to post the post that GWC was responding to:
Well the entire basis to this argument is whether or not those transactions during those few days before the first bond hearing were suspicious activity.
Disputing one piece of evidence is not going to have any bearing on whether or not it was suspicious activity.
And since GWC led his post with:
As NBS said above,
Made me think he was trying to say again that cash was "the only way" to cause the banks to think you are partaking in suspicious activity.
Since GWC switched what NBS said above which is "cash transactions that trigger alerts" to what seems like the opposite "cash is the only way to hide money", I hope you can see why I misread it.
Either way I think the point of my post stands.
Well the entire basis to this argument is whether or not those transactions during those few days before the first bond hearing were suspicious activity.
Disputing one piece of evidence is not going to have any bearing on whether or not it was suspicious activity.
What is in question is whether or not hose transactions during those few days before the first bond hearing were suspicious activity.
I think the prosecution quite convincingly proved that it was suspicious activity.
Whether or not Z was trying to dodge some $10,000 limit has no direct bearing on that. It would just be one piece of the pie.
And another thing.
Even if the $10,000 limit doesn't exist, all that matters was if Z thought it did.
