Moderated Will the 2012 Olympic Games in London be held?

What this all-powerful being could do is warn us through prophecy...

PC, we don't believe that the Holy Spirit is real. We do not believe that the blind Filipino woman is a prophet. We do not believe you when you claim that just over a week from now the earth will be devastated and that mainly men will die.

This alleged prophesy is worthless to humanity, regardless of whether it is true or false. If it is true, it offers no way to prevent the disaster. If it is false, all those who spread it -- Including you, PC -- are transmitting a lie and possibly causing emotional distress to anyone who actually believes you. Stop it, please.

I'm not sure that Sabrina has made such a claim. Certainly PC has. The latter is, I'm sure you'll agree, no better than one about the FSM.

Sabrina claimed that the god she believes in is vastly different from the god PC believes in.

My point is they are similar in that they don't exist and their traits (where they differ) really are interchangeable since there is no measure or observation that would be different whether either god existed or not. [ETA: To put it another way, is there a difference between an Invisible Pink Unicorn and an Invisible Purple Unicorn?]

In a way, PC's is less irrational since he has made a testable prediction, but he has already said that whatever the outcome of the prediction, he will still believe in the existence of "the one true God". So again, we're back to the same difference.

The debate whether one is less "wild" than the other is like debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Any number of angels is just as irrational as any other. . .since angels don't exist.

Lies and deceit; the alleged domain of the devil. If this prophecy is false, which it will turn out to be, folks like PeaceCrusader are, at best, unwitting agents of the devil.

When this prophecy turns out to be false, PeaceCrusader, I doubt that simply disavowing this so-called prophet will be enough to scrub this stain from your soul. I also doubt that simply continuing your search for the One True God will be enough. What will you do to properly atone for your sin?

But Sabrina is most definitely *not* saying that she has the SkyDaddy's private line, or that you should believe her way or that you should change your behaviour in any fashion because of her belief. PC does.

So what? Does that put challenges to Sabrina's claim off limits?

The only way there can be meaningful differences in the characteristics of two purported entities is for at least one of them to exist. I'm not willing to cede that either one exists. So what reason is there to stifle the discussion of Sabrina's claim?

Will you believe in the Holy Spirit when His prophecies of a world war happening on either 2012-07-11 or 2012-07-18, and the 2012 Olympic Games in London is cancelled, because of this war

One down, one to go... ;)

I'd say you're welcome, but... you're not, not really.

I don't believe a word you are saying, PC, except what I can prove via references and evidence. Thus far, you have presented none; merely your own speculation regarding what an apparent con-woman spouts while supposedly suffering some sort of seizure in which she claims God is speaking through her.

I happen to believe in God myself, but I'm a rarity on these forums; and quite frankly, the God I believe in, while He/She/It may be disappointed with humanity, would never wreak vengeance of the like that you're espousing because of something called "free will" that was granted a long, long, LONG time ago. If humanity is destroyed, God will have nothing to do with it; it'll all be on those people who pushed their respective buttons, presumably with middle fingers raised high to the rest of the human race.

I will check back in on the day the Olympics start; I'll expect to see your retraction of your nonsense then.

But Sabrina is most definitely *not* saying that she has the SkyDaddy's private line, or that you should believe her way or that you should change your behaviour in any fashion because of her belief. PC does.

Is that really such a hard concept to wrap your head around?

Then how does she know what god will or will not do?

How is it any different to say you're sure god will destroy humanity or that you're sure he won't?

You're happy to bash PC for saying god will destroy mankind yet when it's pointed out that saying god won't destroy mankind is the same kind of statement the knives come out.

If you wish to keep on about what she stated why don't you start a new thread about it? I could of sworn this topic was about WW III and a crazy old blind seer.

When you say, Astreja, “we”, do you mean the members of your Unitarian Universalist Church? You believe in God of the Holy Bible. But you do not believe in the Holy Spirit. The other names of the Holy Spirit in the King James Version are the Spirit of truth (John 14:17, 16:13), the Comforter (John 15:26, 14:16, 26), the Holy Ghost (John 14:26). Some other versions call Him the Paraclete, the Advocate, the Helper, the Counselor, Spirit.

I do not say that the 73-year-old blind woman is a prophet. The spirit who appropriates her physical body is. He told us that the war will start from the Philippines (1986) in the middle of the year (said sometime in the 1990s), and on a Wednesday which will call for the cancellation of the 2012 Olympic Games in London (2012-05).

If you were to fire your nuclear missile, would you fire it on a rural area or in the city? Would you fire it on a military installation or in the desert? Of course, you would fire it where you may inflict great damage to your adversary.

Who are working in the cities and military installations? Mostly, men. That is why one-third of men will die.

Jesus cannot prevent what men can do because He has given them the free will but He can warn us of the impending danger.

Mostly men are working in the cities? What year do you think this is? 1950?

And hadn't you said that it was two thirds of the men who would die? Did your spirit get the fraction wrong?

You believe the old woman is a medium, temporarily inhabited by a spirit. The question is whether you will realize that she is faking it when the predictions fail to happen.

I Am He

It was til the white knights decided to joust.

When your refutation of the WWIII and a crazy old blind seer involves your understanding of god's will then that argument becomes fair game.

This Wednesday, 2012-07-04, is only about halfway in the Philippines and China. Wednesday has just started in the East Coast of the US. So this Wednesday is not finished yet.

Remember that when you cross the International Date Line from west to east, you subtract one day. On the other hand, you add one day if in the other direction.

LOL You think you are teaching anybody anything? Your posts and claims are laughable. Don't pretend that you know more than anyone else here.

One-third of men (not mankind) will die in the coming war. And then the conquerors will kill the old and the disabled. They will also ask if one believes in God or not. If so, he will be killed. Eventually, two-thirds of mankind will be killed and only one-third will remain. But instead of the population taking off again, it will actually diminish until very few are left by the year 2200. Then there will be peace for a thousand years because Satan will be imprisoned. Those taken out of the earth (Revelation 14:3) will be returned. The population will grow again. Satan will be released after this one thousand years to test the descendants of the elect.

New York Mining Disaster 1941.

Never mind PC, you still have one Wednesday remaining. Then...

Let the games begin.

@Astreja, #1381...
When you say, Astreja, “we”, do you mean the members of your Unitarian Universalist Church?

You have Me confused with Sabrina. I am not and have never been a Unitarian Universalist. I am an agnostic atheist humanist, and also the Goddess of the Northern Hemisphere Vernal Equinox, chocolate, punctuation, and Random Equipment Malfunctions. (For the record, I am agnostic regarding My own divinity. :p)

And for the record, PC, it is My understanding that many Unitarian Universalists do not believe in the god of the Bible.

You believe in God of the Holy Bible.

False. Although I read the Bible approximately 48 years ago, at no time did I see it as anything more than an odd storybook. I have been an agnostic theist, but the gods I worshipped were Athena, Shiva, and the Norse pantheon. Despite the fact that I was baptized in the United Church of Canada (moderate Protestant) at the age of 3 months, I have never believed in the god of the Bible, nor in Jesus, nor in the Holy Spirit. I think they're all fictional (or, in the case of "Jesus," possibly a mythologized version of a perfectly ordinary rabbi who has been quite thoroughly dead for at least 1900 years).

The other names of the Holy Spirit in the King James Version are...

...Completely irrelevant. I don't care if you call the Holy Spirit "the Comforter," "Satan's Little Helper" or "Debbie the Dolphin Groomer," because to Me the Bible is patently worthless as evidence.

I do not say that the 73-year-old blind woman is a prophet. The spirit who appropriates her physical body is.

I don't think that there is any "spirit" there at all. I think that the the blind woman is deluded, insane, or a charlatan.

If you were to fire your nuclear missile, would you fire it on a rural area or in the city?

False dichotomy; and you're definitely asking the wrong person. I would never, under any circumstances whatsoever (including a gun to My head) launch a nuclear missile against anyone. One nuke is two too many, in My opinion.

Who are working in the cities and military installations? Mostly, men. That is why one-third of men will die.

That is, in My opinion, sexist nonsense. Where I live, both men and women work in the city in roughly equal numbers. I have also known quite a few women who have served in the Canadian armed forces, and in fact the new head of one of our training bases is female.

I also note that you haven't grasped the fact that the aftereffects of a major nuclear outbreak will kill virtually everyone. If such a tragedy were to occur, I foresee a death toll of at least 6.5 billion people within the first month, and the extinction of the survivors not long after that because of the destroyed infrastructure, starvation due to a devastated ecosystem, radiation poisoning and psychiatric illness due to bereavement and despair.

There are no winners in a nuclear war.

Jesus cannot prevent what men can do because He has given them the free will but He can warn us of the impending danger. {emphasis Mine}

PC, if a god gives people "free will" (or any other superpower), despite knowing in advance that they will use that ability to murder billions of people, that god is 100% responsible for all the deaths that subsequently occur. A god that would stand idly by and allow a nuclear holocaust to occur is evil, and saying that it's because of "free will" is just making excuses for the inexcusable. It's no different than giving a loaded gun to a toddler, leaving him unsupervised, and then blaming the little kid when he shoots someone.

Then how does she know what god will or will not do?
Certainly not because some old lady claiming to speak with the voice of God has told her so.
How is it any different to say you're sure god will destroy humanity or that you're sure he won't?
Because that's not all PC is saying.
You're happy to bash PC for saying god will destroy mankind yet when it's pointed out that saying god won't destroy mankind is the same kind of statement the knives come out.
You can quote me as "bashing" PC?

Message ID or retraction, please.

When your refutation of the WWIII and a crazy old blind seer involves your understanding of god's will then that argument becomes fair game.

Except for the teeny tiny fact that Sabrina was not offering her own experiences as refutation of PC, any more that your lack of experiences do.

[ETA: To put it another way, is there a difference between an Invisible Pink Unicorn and an Invisible Purple Unicorn?]
There is; one poops gold bricks and the other farts into the wind.

'Jes kidding. :) I've had my say and I'm done with the side topic.

There are no winners in a nuclear war.
Quoted just because it bears repeating.
