I've run the Poker Tournament the last two TAMs, but alas, there's a pretty good chance I won't be able to attend TAM X.

So I thought I'd give you guys a heads-up, that if you want poker this year, we'll need someone to step up and take over. I can give you the details of who to contact, and what deals we had the last two years if someone volunteers.

Poker? No way, poker friggin' sucks and I have no desire to do it.

:duck:

Sorry!

If you want me to construct a long rambling paranoid diatribe about how you're bullying me, you're really going to have to step up your game!

It's like you're referring to something I recently scrolllllllllllllllllllled past without reading...

Bumping the thread again, but also to add this note:

It appears the folks over at the Skeptics' Guide to the Universe podcast are interested in doing a poker tournament this year at TAM. They talked about it during the most recent episode #358 here.

The SGUForum thread for that episode might be a good place to discuss it. I've also posted a link over there that links back to this thread.

Coordinate away!

I listened to that part of the podcast, and it was a bit confusing. It's not clear if this is just a proposal at this stage, or if they've really set things up already.

If they do have things set up, it sounds like a much more ambitious event than we've ever had before. If so, everyone who usually signs up for our event should probably just sign up for this new one.

Particularly since no one else is stepping up to replace me this year.

If Horatius isn't going to be there this year, that means I win by default!

Take that, NWO Kitty!

As opposed to you winning by having AntiqueHunter kick my ass?

One of these years we'll have to go heads up against each other, and see who really wins!

Now it is an official event.
NEW! Join us for the first annual Skeptics’ Poker Tournament at TAM! Don't miss this opportunity to compete against Jamy Ian Swiss, George Hrab, Steven Novella, Jay Novella, Bob Novella, Evan Bernstein and other notable skeptics! Every round you survive seats you at another skeptic’s table. This special TAM event includes private cocktail servers and an open bar for the duration of the tournament. This event will take place at 11pm on Saturday, July 14, and will be a highlight of TAM that you won't want to miss.
If you would like to join the Skeptics Poker Tournament but are nervous about your poker skills, skeptic and reality TV star Joshie Berger will host A Skeptic’s Guide to Poker clinics at TAM that you can participate in for FREE. The clinics will be available during lunch hours, late at night and other times that won’t conflict with regular TAM programming. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn the game or polish your skills from a skeptic who has played poker professionally for close to a decade.
Registrations for the poker tournament will be for sale at TAM ($125 per person, with proceeds benefiting the JREF and SGU). Please email skepticspoker@gmail.com to RSVP or with any questions.

Ouch, that is a bit outside of my normal price range. Oh well, and good luck to those who participate!

Well, so much for asking you to text me pictures of it!

I was thinking $125 was a bit steep as well, and not starting until 11pm? I guess they noticed the same problem we had: finding a slot in the schedule that isn't already booked! It will be interesting to see how much response they get.

First annual? Are they aware of the existence of the previous annual poker tourneys at TAM?
