The Incredible odds of fulfilled bible prophecy

As I've said a few days ago my search function does not work on this site. I even messaged a moderator about that. They said erase your cache, but that didn't work. It might be my browser or the fact that I have dial-up but it simply does not work.

I left many posts about Tyre and Egypt in my 240 or so posts, I don't have the time to repeat those many posts.

We are not asking you to repeat those evasive posts. Tyre is still there so the prophecy did not pan out, but you will never admit that. Please give me a fulfilled bible prophecy.

Evidence of Nebuchadnezzar in Egypt?

Already been given, read the thread.

If I recall correctly your supposed "evidence" was a link to a Wikipedia article and then you basically extrapolated on a sentence within that article to claim that Nebuchadnezzar laid waste to Egypt as far south as Thebes.

We've already spent pages and pages and pages talking about Tyre.

Mainly because you keep on refusing to actually discuss it.

How can you rebuild a city on the mainland where the materials of the city are under water. Those buildings under water can never be rebuilt. If 50 buildings that make up a city are washed out to sea in a Tsunami those 50 building can not be rebuilt, they are gone never to be used again.

So are you saying that, for example, the Wikipedia article for Banda Aceh is incorrect in claiming that the city was founded in 1205 but was actually founded sometime after 26 December 2004?

What you are suggesting is, quite simply, idiotic. You can rebuild a city by bringing in new building materials. Cities do it all the time, and have done so throughout history. All you are trying to do is move the goalposts so you can claim that the prophecy was accurate despite the fact that all the evidence that we have strongly suggest the contrary.

And how do you know that Herod wasn't talking about the new different Tyre on the Island and not the old "Tyre on the Mainland" whose buildings were destroyed -- you don't.

So you are saying that the prophecy was referring to Ushu, the mainland settlement and not Tyre, which was the city on the island. The fact is that when people spoke of Tyre they were speaking of the island city, not a city on the mainland.

...I left many posts about Tyre and Egypt in my 240 or so posts, I don't have the time to repeat those many posts.

Of course not, especially with dial-up.
But as a courtesy to new readers, perhaps you could link to the most relevant ones.

:D Thanks for linking to that wiki article. It, in its turn, has a link to this debunking article, precisely about Ezekiel's prophecy.

To pick out one detail in that article: it quotes Ezekiel 26:6:
and her daughters on the mainland shall be slain by the sword
("her" being Tyre here), and then comments:
Notice that the Bible calls the mainland towns the "daughters" of Tyre--NOT "Tyre," itself. Clearly, they are secondary and subservient to Tyre--as if we needed further confirmation!

Clearly, the Tyre in Ezekiel's prophecy must have been the island city, not the mainland settlement. The article contains many more arguments for that, but this one is the icing on the cake as the Bible itself - precisely, Ezekiel's text - gives unambiguous confirmation which settlement was meant.

I left many posts about Tyre and Egypt in my 240 or so posts, I don't have the time to repeat those many posts.
I do not recall you ever giving any evidence that Nebuchadnezzar went as far south as Thebes. (Are you even aware where Thebes is located?)

I do not recall you either giving any response to this post, where I trashed your failed "literal translation" of the Olivet discourse.

I thank you for bringing this in; as stated, it is logical to assume someone making up a story about their long awaited great Messiah would never make up a verse like this -- thus it is logical to assume it wasn't made up but true.

And are you saying there aren't good looking, tan, in shape, gardeners out there?
Plenty! But very few of these good looking individuals have just been flogged, stabbed, tortured into unconsciousness, and then enclosed in an underground tomb for three days.

That tends to make you less attractive, even to the likes of Mary Magdalen.

Because there's no "new different Tyre on the Island". The one that's there now is the same one that's always been there.

It has never been destroyed. Not by Nebuchadnezzar. Not by Alexander. Not by anyone.

Your opinion is noted

My opinion DOC? Are you seriously suggesting that the existence of Tyre is nothing more than my opinion?

Here's what I think you should do:

You've probably noticed this picture that I've posted a few times:

TyreBeach.jpg

It's a photo of the Resthouse Tyr Hotel and Resort.

This is their phone number:

+961 7 742000

Call them and ask the receptionist to have a look out the window and give you their opinion on the existence or otherwise of Tyre.

. . . if people are interested in all of this I would advise them to read my many posts I left on this issue around 40 or so pages ago.

People have obviously already read that bilge or we wouldn't still be here pointing out that you've yet to provide an honest answer to the many questions you've been asked.

Besides, last time I looked you couldn't find those posts yourself, so it's a bit rich expecting anyone else to do so.

Akhenaten, if you continue to talk about issues like Egypt and Tyre that I've already left many many posts on I'm going to block you.

You can't block me DOC. The most you can do is ignore me, but you've been doing that for years anyway.

In a few more minutes I'll have more posts in this thread than you do which means, according to your way of looking at things, that it will become my thread.

Blocked? Not at all.

Free to take the thread wherever I fancy. You bet!

We've moved on.

We, kemo sabe?

Not your call, DOC. It's my thread now.

I thank you for bringing this in; as stated, it is logical to assume someone making up a story about their long awaited great Messiah would never make up a verse like this -- thus it is logical to assume it wasn't made up but true.

And are you saying there aren't good looking, tan, in shape, gardeners out there?

It is equally logical to assume that someone making up a story about the Norse gods would never say that they failed to recognize a frost giant when one came to Asgard to offer his building services in exchange for the sun and the moon and Freyja as a bride. Frost giants are generally recognizable by their huge size. And yet, the Prose Edda says the gods didn't recognize him. This embarrassing element makes the story more likely to be true, and thus it is logical to assume that the prophecies concerning Ragnarok aren't made up but true.

What makes you think the gardener was "good looking, tan, in shape,"...

Well, to DOC's credit, there are a lot of gardeners named Jesus.

And for the most part kinda meeting that description.

At least around here!

Which proves at least one fulfilled bible prophecy (using DOC-think).

. . .if people are interested in all of this I would advise them to read my many posts I left on this issue around 40 or so pages ago.

What in the name of Bes is going on with that, DOC? Since when is "around 40 or so pages ago" any kind of reference to be using? How is that you feel comfortable demanding that people provide links to specific posts when they refer to things that you've said when the best you feel inclined to offer yourself is an airy-fairy "40 or so pages ago"?

How very dare you?

Since the following posts were very much modelled after your own style then you can surely have no objection to providing the required information, can you? To do otherwise would be hypocritcal, wouldn't you say?

I've added some nice highlighting to the specific bits that you need to attend to.

You're spamming, we've already spent many posts on Tyre forty or so pages ago.

Post a link to where you addressed this:

Ezekiel 26:14
And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

Acts 12:20

And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.

Any word on this discrepancy yet, DOC?

Already been given, read the thread.

I am far more familiar with the contents of the thread than you are.

And even if I wasn't, I know how to use the search function.

Now, post the links to the posts in which you provided evidence of Nebuchadnezzar conquering and invading Egypt.

Please post a link to your response to this particular post. Note that includes a requirement that you not present the made-up (by you) version of the scriptures that you've previously attempted to use.

I don't believe that the prophecy mentioned here has been fulfilled:

Isaiah 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

See if you can respond without using the words "if" and "might" to dishonestly insert your own fanciful conditions into it.

If 50 buildings that make up a city are washed out to sea in a Tsunami those 50 building can not be rebuilt, they are gone never to be used again.

Provide a link to the prophecy that mentions this tsunami.

Bated my breath is. Sitting on the edge of my seat I am.

Which prophecy is this post dealing with?

A prophecy of a good looking, in shape gardener is one I could get behind.

However, the nonsense of the alleged resurrection is offtopic for this thread. We're still waiting for DOC to address the following, at minimum:

Tyre. It's still there, as the photo Akhenaten posted shows. It's not Akhenaten's opinion, it's simple, incontrovertible fact. Just check Google Earth or call the hotel if you want. So the prophecy in Ezekiel has failed.

Nebuchadnezzar. Was he in Egypt? The Bible says so, but extra-biblical sources have no such information, quite the reverse.

Jerusalem. Even if the proscription on the uncircumcised and unclean not entering the city had an unrecorded exception for merchants, which is your post-facto justification based on nothing but your wish for prophecy to be correct, it will be the case nowadays that uncircumcised men and unclean men and women make their homes in the city (since circumcision is thankfully declining in popularity and women do not generally follow outdated and pointless rituals every time they menstruate). Prophecy fails again.

Why can you not just address these matters, DOC? Stating that you have addressed them earlier in the thread without linking to your relevant posts is not addressing the matters, it's running away.

I agree with Tim.
DOC has demonstrated his unwillingness to address the criticisms of his arguments.
He has gone into repeat mode, avoiding discussion. The thread exists as documentation of his arguments, and the following poll outlines the results of this discussion.
By popular demand, The list is updated with the requested addition.

DOC has successfully demonstrated a fulfilled biblical prophecy: 1

As seen, DOC has failed to demonstrate a single fulfilled biblical prophecy. If he ever bothers to address actual criticisms of his arguments or introduce new information, I'll be happy to respond.

Or at least link to your own posts on the subject?

As I've said a few days ago my search function does not work on this site. I even messaged a moderator about that. They said erase your cache, but that didn't work. It might be my browser or the fact that I have dial-up but it simply does not work.

Have you started a thread in Forum Help & Member Support yet?

In any case, Your technical problems are yours to sort out in your own time and not a reason to weasel out of answering questions, so either figure it out or do it manually. How hard can it be, after all, to track back through a conversation to find the things that you yourself have posted?

Failing that, just repost the material from your sources.

In the case of Tyre, for instance, it would seem that the complete destruction and rebuilding of one of the oldest and most important cities in the Mediterranean will have made it into all the history books and it would be a snap to produce enough references to satisfy even the most demanding of skeptics.

I left many posts about Tyre and Egypt in my 240 or so posts,

And I've left many more in my 240 or so posts refuting them. I win!

I don't have the time to repeat those many posts.

How can say you haven't got time to do the very thing we've been watching you do for years?

The truth is you only have about twenty-odd basic 'arguments' that you keep regurgitating over and over with slight variations.

If the Jews didn't think these prophecies were fulfilled you have to wonder why they kept going through the trouble of painstakingly copying (or verbalizing) the Old Testament by hand over hundreds and hundreds of years. You would think they would say to themselves, hey this never came true, so why spend the time, money, and energy to copy an unfulfilled prophecy or at least why don't we change a few words to make make Tyre, Babylon, Egypt, be totally undebateable. The fact that they didn't seem to change them over hundreds of years shows they didn't have much problem with them. Also, Jesus himself quoted Isaiah several times, so he didn't seem to have much problem with him either.

If Jeane Dixon predicted John Kennedy would serve 2 terms and live to be 80, the Jean Dixon fan club wouldn't keep copying and copying that by hand for hundreds of years, and keep showing her great respect.
