Is homeopathy a sham?

I am trying as nicely as I can to get you all to listen.
Listen to what? You have yet to say anything of substance.

One day I hope you will open your eyes and see what really is right in front of you.
I see dozens of double blind clinical trials that show that homeopathic remedies are no more effective than placebo, and some basic science textbooks.

Let's PLEASE all approach homeopathy with an open mind.
Anyone who does so can only conclude that homeopathy doesn't work. Unless you have some new evidence that we haven't seen before?

Lying to yourself about it doesn't only hurt yourself--it hurts society.
Lying to yourself about homeopathy certainly hurts you if you forego real medical treatment in favour of it.

I've never really gotten what's supposed to be so horrible about "Treating the symptoms" anyway.

If a bacterial infection in my GI track is making me vomit and live on the toilet do I care if whatever treatment I'm giving banishes the bacteria to the Phantom Zone or just stops my GI track issues? What differences does it make on a practical level?

Treating symptoms is compared to what's called a 'therapeutic' treatment. The importance of a therapeutic treatment is that it solves the root problem, and this almost always reduces damage to the body.

To use your own example, an antibiotic will eliminate the bacteria so you are not permanently damaged, and permanently stop the symptoms in the long run so you no longer require medication.

Treating the symptoms only with analgesics and anti-nausea elements will just mean that you will have to live out of a bottle until you die from the bacterial toxins or until it resolves itself (ie: without antibiotics). Even if it resolves itself, the longer it took, the more damage the toxins have done to the bowel.

Targetting the cause of the symptoms reduces the duration and intensity of the damage, and also reduces the duration and intensity of the symtoms as a secondary benefit.

Taken to task?
Rather than scold you, I am trying as nicely as I can to get you all to listen.

You must be trolling. You seriously can't be serious.

One possibly good, to be fair.

On example is ColdEeze. Significant levels of zinc.

I think the jury is still out on the effect of zinc on the severity/duration of the common cold. Regardless, it is NOT homeopathic, though it is labeled as such.

ColdEeze is both homeopathic and active ingedients, but your point is still quite valid:

Many brands market their product lines as 'homeopathic' when they have at least one homeopathic ingredient, because the broad consumer perception is that homeopathic products to not have risk of side effects.

I wish I could go back to being this optimistic.

So no evidence about the efficacy of homeopathy? I you were diagnosed with cancer would you place your faith in homeopathy? If you did then you would die.

If it has active ingredients it is not homeopathic.
It's false labelling.
People are right that homeopathic remedies have no risk of side effects.
They have no risk of any effects.

...Lying to yourself about it doesn't only hurt yourself--it hurts society.

That is truely an offensive statement, especially coming from someone who shows no grasp of the evidence that has proven that homeopathic preparations are worthless and dangerous when they are used in place of properly tested medicine.

Right now, I would like to have homeopathic petrol. The problem is it will be too powerful. The solution would be special homeopathic engines?

Thanks for wishing death upon me.
Really warms the cockles of my heart.
Of COURSE I would use homeopathic medicine if diagnosed with cancer.
Lord knows doctors and the pharmaceutical industry are corrupt and untrustworthy.
Lots of evidence of homeopathy has been presented--read those books!

Don't you know what the word ''if'' means, as in ''if you got cancer''? Books written by homeopaths? I prefer to believe the real test results. I hope that you never get cancer, if you do you will be on the daisy support scheme in no time at all.

I consulted a homeopathic doctor once, just for a laugh. He 'diagnosed' me my putting different pills in my hand with my arm outstretched, and then pushed down on my arm with one hand while touching his forehead with the fingers of his other hand. It was hilarious, I had a hard time keeping a straight face. And I am supposed to keep an open mind about the farrago of nonsense known as homeopathy?

So did Sylvia Millecam and then she died of a cancer that could be treated very well. As did many other people.

THAT is anectodal evidence.
Reality shows that homeopathic medicine works.
One look at amazon.com proves I am right, honestly.
Let's all take a step back, please, and talk about the benefits of homeopathy.
Lesson to be learned here--don't be so closed-minded!
