StopSylvia email: "What??? Stop sylvia"

I sense the letter writer can't write back. He got shot. After working as a stripper in Atlantis. And he drowned. Once the body is in the water it's very hard to write back. And something else that starts with a "G." Also, his hamster is in Heaven.

wasn't trying to be funny. I think it's true, at least in some states. I'm no lawyer (or comedian) though.

No worries, Gabey. I didn't think you were trying to be funny. In fact, I have looked for the "for entertainment purposes only" disclaimer in many Browne-related media (her books, videos, credits on the Montel Williams Show, MWS audience Release forms, etc) to see if she or publishers/producers had left themselves just such a legal "out", but have found no incidents of it connected with her.

Interesting read. I'm sure even her lawyers realise that she only complained about using her name - not about the fact that you are exposing her as a liar, a cheat and a charlatan.

Guess she'll never try and sue you for that as she'd have to back it up in court.

Yes, if she ever sued me for slander/libel on the site, she could only win if she

1) proved my statements about her to be false. I'd love to see her try to prove in court that she is actually psychic.

2) proves that I knew those statements to be false.

I'm not too concerned about it.

I wish one of them would sue someone. I'd contribute to the defence costs!

I said the same thing to a load of 'psychics' on UK Amazon :D I couldn't understand why Richard Wiseman's 'Paranormality' book had a load of 1* reviews with lots of 'like' clicks on each. Turned out a woman with a 'psychic' dog that he'd slammed had posted a stupid review (her only review to date) and, presumably, got her pals to post/vote too as there are 6 pages of comments on her post.

Felt I had to defend Wiseman as I'd seen him talk a few times and really liked him.

If Browne had pursued it, I think that my Defense Fund would have been well-funded. Not only from Skeptics, but also from Freedom of Speech Advocates. There were many posts about it in blogs of such folks.

I've only got one issue to your letter and that is to use a spell check program, a couple of missed letters were in the original... Nit picking I know but as someone who views the keyboard as an alien device but must use it for various business matters, a well constructed letter free of spelling mistakes hammers the point home much more effectively and yes, I speak from experience :o

I used to run my SSB outgoing emails through MS Word's spell checker, especially if I hoped to include it in an article. Nowadays, between my physical limitations, other priorities, and my lack of familiarity with Word's new interface, I choose to allocate my time otherwise. But thanks.

Many software programs including Microsoft Word use F7 as a shortcut to the spell checker.
