StopSylvia email: "What??? Stop sylvia"

RS--

You are most likely aware of this, but Sylvia Browne told two parents on Montel's show that their son was dead. He was found alive several years later.

http://www.mind-energy.net/archives/156-Sylvia-Browne-made-a-cruel-false-prediction.html (Jan. 22, 2007 "Sylvia Browne made a cruel, false prediction).

I'm actually surprised that making such a claim could not be considered "cruel and unusual punishment" in a lawsuit. I suppose legally it is not "binding", but it was an awful thing to tell them when Sylvia actually had no idea what had happened at all.

Yes, thanks for making sure I knew about this.

In fact, that story broke on My "Stop Sylvia Browne" web site the day that Shawn Hornbeck (the boy) was found, in this article:

Montel: Shawn Hornbeck Reading.

That article led to follow-up articles and reports in The New York Daily News, The Howard Stern Show, Fox News and CNN's Anderson Cooper 360. Browne was invited to comment on the latter but declined.

I find it interesting that there are at least three different spellings of "Sylvia" in their letter. If they're defending a trademark, they should get at least that right.

And you could easily promise to never infringe the name SYVLIA BROWNE with absolute honesty, as demanded in the penultimate paragraph of the letter. Sure thing, I promise. (I'll at least be able to spell the witch's name correctly...)

ETA: That lawyer was worth every penny you paid him, RSL. He knows his stuff!

Many software programs including Microsoft Word use F7 as a shortcut to the spell checker.

Many software programs underline misspelled words with a red squiggly line. Howevere, ie is not one of those programs, so if Robert is using a web-based email account and ie as his browser, it would take a few extra steps to spell check.

I'll have to check the Union Rules and Regulations to see what powers an Honorary Membership entitles me to.

It seems the definition of dark entity is "anyone who annoys Sylvia Browne or annoys someone paying Sylvia Browne for a reading," so based on criteria #1 you're probably in excellent standing.

Of the "She can't be right ALL the time!" variety? Many, but none in a while now until this one.

About Sylvia's 87% claim: Personally, when I'm 87% sure that I'm giving someone accurate information, I always say just that: "I'm 87% sure, but I COULD BE WRONG."

The more critical the information, the more careful I am to qualify my statement.

Has Sylvia ever done this? It would be nice, I believe, if she told distraught parents, while informing them that their missing child is now a sex slave in Japan, "I hope I'm wrong. I hope this is one of the rare 13% of cases when my abilities have misfired."

It would be NICE.

I understand, from RSL's site to seeing her on TV, that the last word one would use to describe Sylvia Browne is "nice." She is mean and evil and makes no effort to disguise it.

Not quite. he makes every effort to disguise it in her books.

In person however, not so much.

I'll bet her health issues have an influence on her readings. "My bowels are acting up today, so I have an ESPECIALLY nasty fate dreamed up for YOUR missing child."

Aggle, I seem to recall Jon Ronson postulating a similar theory in his article he wrote about thr Sylvia Cruise he took.
