Herman Cain leads by 20 points!

According to the site I've been using, the average of polls shows Cain continuing to sink:

Gingrich 23.8%
Romney 21.3
Cain 15.5
Perry 8.0
Paul 8.0
Bachmann 4.8
Santorum 2.3
Huntsman 2.3
undecided (by implication) 14.0

While this could be a result of the sexual allegations, I suspect it's more the result of people beginning to realize he is nothing more than a flash in the pan. This is somewhat reminiscent of Perry's rise and plunge during the summer.

It astounds me that even 15% support him. This is not how sane people act.

I think the take-home message for the republicons is that they need to check people out a lot better before investing too heavily in them.

Perry only crashed when he opened his mouth and confirmed that he is an utter dolt. People should have figured from the start that this would be a problem. I guess they figured they could get away with offering us another good ole boy like they did in 2000.

I have to wonder how long it took the party operatives to figure out that Cain was a horndog.

Cain told the newspaper that he repeatedly gave Ginger White money to help her with "month-to-month bills and expenses." However, he denied a sexual affair, as White alleges. He said the two were friends.

In the interview, Cain said his wife, Gloria Cain, did not know about White or his financial support for her until the Atlanta woman came forward last week.

"My wife now knows," Cain told the newspaper. "My wife and I have talked about it, and I have explained it to her. My wife understands that I'm a soft-hearted, giving person."

Anyone buying that load of crap?

Hrm. I could see him being friends with a woman and his wife not knowing about it.

But giving her "financial support" without telling his wife? Yeah...at that point "just friends" is just BS.

I know if my wife found out I'd been giving "financial support" to another woman without her knowledge, that would pretty much be it for our marriage. Really though, why are any financial decisions being made in secret? Gloria Cain now has to show if she is a strong woman or a doormat.

And in the spirit of BAC, who would surely bring Bill Clinton into this, I believe that situation is different. I suspect Hillary has know about and accepted Bill's philanderings for a very long time, especially since they've been splashed all over the news since he was governor of Arkansas. I suspect Gloria Cain was completely blindsided by this. But I could be wrong. Maybe she's just been quiet.

There are poll and there are polls.

I decided to look at the bookmakers' odds

http://www.oddschecker.com/specials...us-presidential-election/republican-candidate

Mr. Cain ranges from 33 to 1 up to 50 to 1. Most bookmakers place Ron Paul at 14 to 1. When your odds of being nominated are two to three times Ron Paul's odds, its time to step aside.

Mr. Romney is in the lead but Mr. Gingrich is only a step or two behind.

How a Businessman deals with a crisis, assuming he doesn't realize that he's already burnt toast before the latest scandal:

If Herman lies (again) and say his wife already knew about the "friend", goodbye marriage, goodbye nomination.

If Herman tells the truth that his wife didn't know about the "friend", might save the marriage, goodbye nomination.

Easy decision.

On the bright side, she might not go all Lorena Bobbitt on your hoohah.

I may have missed it. Has the OPer commented on Mr. Cain's immoral and unchristian-like behavior?

I have no doubt that he'll pull out (so to speak) but his post-campaign future looks exceedingly bright. He'll give a stem-winder of a speech at the GOP convention then go on to a multi-million dollar career as a extreme right-wing gadfly. He'll be a wingnut convention superstar, pulling down $100K+ per appearance. Not bad for a pizza twiller.

The nominee usually has a say who speaks at the convention. Cain may not get a chance to speak or even be placed in nomination.
