Vaccines: how do I talk to my anti-vac wife about it?

if we made them then they are natural.
I'm uncertain why you want to waste time on this. 'Nature' in any normal sense is the natural world of the earth, its life, and so on. You're wasting time on this obvious point. But it's your life - if you want to waste time, go ahead.

If you apply your reasoning then we could get something unnatural enter into our bodies in many other ways other than an vaccine injection. Why would vaccine injections be anything special.
You don't seem able to think straight. I wasn't 'applying reason', just pointing out that it's possible something 'unnatural' could have extremely dangerous properties which aren't found in nature.

It is true that something dangerous might enter the body in various ways, or for that matter cause harm without having to enter the body. So what? Of course it's true.

I didn't say injections are necessarily 'anything special'. However, injections do bypass the normal bodily defences and therefore are a legitimate cause for concern. To say that mankind is part of 'nature' and therefore vaccines must be harmless seems to be your 'reasoning'. I'm pointing out that's ********. What's needed is to examine the evidence. And, as it happens, there appear to be undeniable examples of injections being followed by severe irreversible damage.

Synthetic doesn't mean unnatural. It's merely a specific form of natural.

Everything that exists in this universe, created from something in this universe, is natural. As far as we know, nothing unnatural exists.

Sigh. As I say, 'Nature' in any normal sense is the natural world of the earth, its life, and so on. It's what people mean by 'nature'. If you believe that e.g. some chemical synthesised to be lethal is 'natural', you're distorting the meaning of the word. If you want to do that, it's your prerogative. But you might do better to be more honest.

How do vaccine injections bypass the normal bodily defence? Are injections by scratching and thorns different then?

They bypass it by going straight into the bloodstream, or into tissue. I don't know if your comment on thorns is meant to be serious - it's a bit hard to tell on this site...

Vaccines aren't injected into the bloodstream. It's no different to being scratched with a thorn.

What are the 'normal bodily defences'?

A Glock 19 with 9mm Fiocchi 147gr XTP Hollow Points.
OK everyone, now just move away from the debate, keeping your hands in clear sight and making no sudden movements...

I'm sure he doesn't really want to use that thing...

Yuri

Just to clarify (as it's humor on the internet) - no threat, actual or implied, was intended. The Glock doesn't do much vs. thorns or the flu, anyway.

Everything that exists in this universe, created from something in this universe, is natural. As far as we know, nothing unnatural exists.

Still, the word "natural" is therefore pretty meaningless. If by "artificial" we mean "modified by man", then it's much more useful.

I think we can all agree this is a waste of time.

No seriously, what do you think are the normal bodily defences?

Do you think that once a pathogen has entered the blood stream or a body tissue that we don't have an immune system?

I am really interested if people actually have the foggiest about what the immune system is.

You can't. You asked her to prove a negative. There are no ifs or buts about it.

No, you didn't answer my question at all. Answering as you see fit doesn't include not answering.

Does this mean that you're going to throw a tantrum?

Is anyone going to comment on that? I was wondering whether the bulk posters (a bit like call centre workers) have an instruction sheet to work from.
___________

@Tatyana - 'immune system' is a bit of a misnomer. There's a whole collection of physical and chemical defensive barriers and devices - stomach acid, skin, mucus, white cells of various types, cilia, filtration, and just generally hostile environements from interlopers.

However such questions as how cancer cells in effect are treated as OK, and how bacteria are regarded as not OK, and what the properties of viruses are, are more problematic than gullible people suppose.

Yes, that would make it worse, as pure water/chemically pure water, would be de-ionised water.

Deionised water, and to a lesser extent, distilled water, removes the dissolved metal ions like sodium from water.

The composition of the 'water' in your body, or plasma/extracellular fluid, is approximately 140 mmol/L of sodium (and around 4 mmol/L potassium).

If you introduce chemically pure water into your body, osmosis would occur, and for a balance of sodium ions to occur, water would be ripped out of the extracelluar fluid initially, then the intracelluar fluids, fluids, causing dehydration.

If you make someone drink 'pure water' for any length of time, besides dehydration, you will also cause an electrolyte imbalance, which could cause a cardiac arrest.

I would stop using the smiley faces.

So, I'm a cretin and you think that drinking distilled water (or in other words, H2O without the additives) will cause an intracellular electrolyte imbalance. Normal people don't "introduce" liquids into their bodies. We tend to stick with the old fashioned method of drinking. Another great source of water is through the food that we eat unless you're eating highly-processed foods.

In either case, if you drink distilled water in the normal manner, it will not be distilled water by the time it leaves the stomach. Try reading the Canadian Water Quality Association's advice on distilled water.

Fortunately, most of the attacks against the industry, such as the ones which lead into this article, are common misconceptions which can be easily countered with legitimate, third-party information. Here are a few misconceptions that seem to be making the rounds in recent months and the rebuttals to them.

1) The consumption of high purity water results in ill health effects. This misconception involves the theory that water with low concentrations of total dissolved solids (TDS) causes mineral leaching from the body, intestinal disorders and urinary tract disorders. Low TDS water can occur naturally or as the result of deionization, distillation or R.O. treatment.

They go on to explain the source of the misconception and provide evidence to the contrary. One of the most telling is this:
More evidence comes from the experience of the United States Navy. The U.S. Navy has used distilled sea water for human consumption for approximately 40 years. The distilled water used on board ships generally has an extremely low TDS of 3.0 mg/L. Personnel, particularly those on submarines, drink this water for several months at a time. In all these years, high purity water has not been noticed or documented to produce any negative effects and the Navy Surgeon General's office has stated for the record that no ill effects occur from drinking low TDS water.

I rest my case. :) :D ;) :p  (Sorry, I'm just being childish!)

Yes, if you drink water that is chemically pure, or H2O, also referred to as de-ionised water, there is a very good chance you will create an electrolyte imbalance.

Depending on the extent of the the distillation, the same effect is possible.

Distillation of sea water to remove salt is not the same as distillation of fresh water to remove the dissolved ions.

Here is a hippy dippy site that discussed the issues of de-ionised water that you might prefer:
