Coulter: If not Christie; Romney; lose.

Oh jeez. It's not on the same scale. Edwards is measured on the Boneheaded Self-Destruction scale, not the Douchiness scale.

Ahh, the Gary Hart scale. I don't think anyone's achieved such a high ranking since Gary Hart himself.

But, if Edwards was throwing other people's money at the problem, he starts to register on the douchiness scale too.

Oh, Edwards blows Hart away on that score. After all, Hart never put himself in legal jeopardy. True that he registers way up there on the douchiness scale too, using OPM to may off his lady.

Bill Clinton?

Clinton's biggest mistake: When the Supreme Court ruled against his attempt to delay the trial (in the Jones lawsuit) until after he leaves office, he should have ended his defense of that case, claiming he didn't have time to deal with it, and invited summary judgement. He would have been found liable and Jones awarded some amount, and that would have been the end of the legal proceedings. There would have been no deposition, no under oath questions about Lewinsky, etc. And the cost to him would have been far less than what followed.

I give Hart the high score for sheer blatancy--I don't recall any attempt to cover up at all. It reminds me of that guy in Last Action Hero.

"Attention everyone. I've just cheated on my wife and thrown the election. I did it on purpose. This IS what it looks like."

The obvious thing about him is he's fat, but would voters be so superficial as to hold that against him? You would think not, but history shows that something as trivial as height is a pretty good predictor of which candidate will win. OTOH, being fat didn't stop Taft from becoming president.

My bolding ("trivial").

I disagree with this characterization. I think that it speaks to his discipline if nothing else.

Of course, not all overweight people are that way because of personal habits.

I can't wait to watch this wretched man crash and burn.

Wretched man. He can't wait...

"Mitch Daniels gives thumbs up to Christie"

"In a small gathering of online political reporters at the Heritage Foundation, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniel gave his stamp of approval to Gov. Chris Christie, who is now the focus of some conservatives’ efforts to get the New Jersey governor into the race. Daniels, who attended a forum with Christie on Thursday, said “ Chris and I are good buds” When I pressed as to whether he was the sort of bold leader the party and country needed, he answered, “ Chris is the best example that I can think of. He shares my view that too many of our colleagues are too timid.”

..."Daniels’ comments are representative of the comments from dozens and dozens of Republican whom I have spoken with or emailed today. In one horrid outing, Perry seems to have splashed cold water on conservatives’ faces."

"And two of the candidates—Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney—did provide respectable performances. But no front-runner in a presidential field has ever, we imagine, had as weak a showing as Rick Perry. It was close to a disqualifying two hours for him. And Mitt Romney remains, when all is said and done, a technocratic management consultant whose one term as governor produced Romneycare. He could rise to the occasion as president. Or not.

But in a week in which markets collapsed, Solyndra exploded, our Middle East policy was in meltdown, the Iranian nuclear threat became more urgent, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff fingered our “ally” Pakistan as a sponsor of terror against American forces in Afghanistan—none of the candidates really seemed up to the moment, either politically or substantively. In the midst of a crisis, we’re getting politics as usual—and a somewhat subpar version of politics as usual at that."

"...Watching this week as Mitch Daniels intelligently promoted his book and Paul Ryan cogently explained why crony capitalism is inconsistent with the rule of law, we of course lamented that neither of them had stepped up to the challenge. Jeb Bush apparently isn’t getting in. That would seem to leave Chris Christie. He is, in every sense, a big man for a big job. And it really is a big job. The presidency always is, of course. But in 2013, with the magnitude and urgency of the problems we face, don’t we deserve someone with a bigger sense of the task ahead, and a deeper sense of the solutions needed, combined with a proven record of bold governance, than the current field provides?"

New Jersey GOP announces three-state political swing

Gov. Chris Christie will take political trips to Missouri, California and Louisiana next week and the public and news media know it because the New Jersey Republican Committee made it public on Friday.

The highlight of the trip will come Tuesday when Christie delivers the keynote address at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library’s Perspectives on Leadership Forum in Simi Valley, Calif.

"Chris Christie Offers Advice To Child Running For Sixth Grade Student Council"

"Here’s something cute. During a town hall meeting in Union, New Jersey, Chris Christie was taking questions and received an interesting one from sixth grader Zack Martini. Martini is running for student council and wanted some campaign advice from the Governor which Christie was happy to give."

Rest of story and great video at link:

Of all the things the nation faces, homosexuality is apparently the paramount concern with a surprisingly great many. That is not a good indicator.
