Merged 10th anniversary 9/11 documentaries/ TV

Just downloaded and watched "911 the day that changed the world"

" This documentary reveals the decisive moments of 9/11. Going behind the scenes, it shows how the events unfurled in the aircraft, the offices, the bunkers and the military headquarters as the US President, his advisers, security services and the military tried to piece together what was happening, who was attacking America and what was going to happen next"

includes new york mayor rudy's experiences and dick cheney going out of his bunker to inspect the damage after flight 77 hit and help carrying the wounded on stretchers before being whisked away by the SS.there's video of him. I thought that was cool :)
an excellent documentary, highly recommended.

That was Donald Rumsfeld inspecting damage not Dick Cheney, although Cheney did comment on it in the documentary along with one of the Vice Chairmen of the JCOS.

I'm in the Philippines now, so this is kinda timely information! I'll have access to the regular BBC channel though, any idea whether or not this will air on BBC? I'd rather not sit and watch Channel 7 and have my wife translate for me.

9/11: Science and Conspiracy airs tonight at 11PM EDT on National Geographic. It's very well done. Truthers referred to this as a "hit piece," which pretty much just means it exposed their lies. Stars David Ray Griffin, Richard Gage, and Dylan Avery.

Can't see how you buy it on DVD though -- all their other programs are available.

It airs again on Sept. 9th at 4PM EDT.
.
Watched part of it. Painful, just to see apparently sane men spout nonsense.
The switching planes scenario was bizarre.
Can any sane person think that brain fart, with the 1000s of people it would require, makes more sense than 4 teams of 5 people (less the guy that overslept) took over the planes and crashed them?

Ok, I know this isn't TV or a documentary. But:

It is publicly accessible media memorializing that day. So I think it's topical. Anyway: I just heard on the car radio an ad for the 9/11 Memorial Facebook page. And it depresses me to think that truthers might decide to flock to that and deface it with their BS.

I hope that doesn't happen. But really, regarding 9/11 history, what haven't they defiled?

Right now (8 pm central) on Investigation Discovery is 9/11 Crime Scene Investigators which promises never before seen footage.

For the people outside the US, the first three parts of Rising (the Discovery channel show) are out on the torrent sites already. Each part is ~56 minutes long.

That was an amazing 6 hrs of history unfolding on a grand scale.
the freedom tower is an amazing example of american engineering and ingenuity
and will NEVER fall.
the memorial with its footprints, water falls, bronze inscriptions and 400 trees is fantastic,it will be so peaceful and beautiful for the families.

once again america has shown the world that it is the best.

thanks for the post about the torrents
and thanks for correcting me about dick cheney/donald rumsfield in a previous post
.:):):)
cheers mate!

Oh. They're showing how the the Crime Scene Units picked through the debris at the recovery site. Interesting.

Hearing the examples of the body parts the families were given made me wonder...for those that don't think planes crashed at the WTC, Pentagon, or Shanksville -- how do you explain the remains that were given to the families? Are they not really their loved ones or did the conspirators take the passengers somewhere else and manage to kill them and produce body parts as if they'd been in plane crashes, fires, etc? Either way, seems if any of the family members grew suspicious of a conspiracy and had the remains analyzed, the conspiracy could be exposed. That's quite a risk for the conspirators to take. It's preposterous that a conspiracy would ever be planned like that.

If you think claiming the phone calls were fake is offensive, that's nothing compared to this. Has anyone ever asked a truther to explain this? I bet that they'd avoid answering that question at all costs.

You can actually view this whole show on the NatGeo website. I absolutely love the way they had EMRTC set up the experiments and presentations, and then showed them to DRG, Gage, and Avery, and watch them squirm as their ridiculous ideas are laid to rest. My favorite is the thermite experiment, its classic, and frankly hilarious.

This was also a must see. How painstaking the process was, and the task of DNA identification was absolutely inspiring, and heartbreaking at the same time, to feel the elation of identifying someone for their family, and to turn over the remains which may have been a bone fragment, or less.

Watched the George Bush interview from this past Sunday last night. Very good interview. Candid. Gotta feel for the guy who thought his Tuesday was going to be about reading a book to kids, and wound up with this crap on his plate.

Not a fan of his Presidency, but as a person, he's OK.

OMG... they're showing Frontline on PBS right now, right this minute (10:11pm EDT) and it's on 9/11 ("Faith and Doubt at Ground Zero"). And it showed some video of the jumpers, albeit from far away.

I never saw those on that day or after. Still pictures, yes, but not video. Jesus... that's heartrending. Just utterly soul searing. Christ...

I just saw National Geographic's War On America, which best could be described as a mini video version of Ghost Wars and Perfect Soldiers combined (in fact both authors are interviewed). It goes into some history on the origins of Al Qaeda beginning in the 1980's with the Afghan War and Bin Laden's and the the other terrorists reasons for turning to terror against Americans. Good stuff. I especially liked the section on KSM and his nephew Ramzi Yousef, the man responsible for the 1993 WTC bombing, and the infamous Bojinka Plot.

Tonight on BBC3 @9:00pm we have this.....

Comedian Andrew Maxwell meets five British people who believe some of the conspiracy theories that have emerged in the 10 years since the September 11 2001 terror attacks in America. Hoping to convince them to accept the official findings of the US government, which placed the blame with al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, he takes them on a road trip from New York to Washington, visiting Ground Zero, the Pentagon and Shanksville in Pennsylvania.

However, I do object to this since the five in question are in no way a representative sample of the 'truth' movement. Three of them are female.

:D

Also, it clashes with both Torchwood and The Killing, so I won't be watching!

ETA2: I take that back, as it only conflicts with Torchwood since the next episode of The Killing is on at 10:00pm. So, Torchwood it is then.

I could only get through 1/4 of '120 Minutes That Changed America', so I reckon I'll observe the occasion with a "Star Trek' marathon...
