is YHWH an Evil god?

Only if you accept the concept of the holy trinity. If you just going by the Bible, Jesus isn't God, so these don't count either.

1John
{5:7} For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John
{1:1} In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
{1:14} And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

{8:19} Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

{8:42} Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

{10:29} My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father’s hand. {10:30} I and [my] Father are one.

{10:38} But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

{14:6} Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. {14:7} If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. {14:8} Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. {14:9} Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then,] Shew us the Father? {14:10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. {14:11} Believe me that I [am] in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. {14:12} Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. {14:13} And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. {14:14} If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Simply bolding portions of the text that you wanted to draw attention to would have been sufficient.

I can't tolerate that mess on my screen for more than a second.

I figured my story would follow the life-after-death of an army general and life-long atheist who ends up a commander in Satan's army. The opening line would be:

"Devon was not surprised that he was going through the gates of hell, rather, he was surprised to be going anywhere at all."
.
Silverberg's series "Gilgamesh in Hell" is one of my favorite syfys.. :)

Lying isn't prohibited by the commandments. Giving false witness is. It's an injunction against perjury and making false allegations, not lying in general. So this doesn't count either.

Giving them FALSE STATUTES....is that false allegations?
Ezekiel
{20:25} Wherefore I gave them also statutes [that were] not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; {20:26} And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through [the fire] all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I [am] the LORD.

Deceiving a prophet to BEAR FALSE WITNESS

Ezek 14:9, “And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.”

He put a LYING SPIRIT in the mouths of the prophets....to do what? To BEAR FALSE TESTIMONY (witness)
2 Chr. 18:22, “Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.”

Here is the commandment from Jesus that you should not SWEAR or take an AUTH
Matthew
{5:33} Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: {5:34} But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: {5:35} Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. {5:36} Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. {5:37} But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Notice the MAGIC aspect of 2Chr 34:24..... God himself is doing MAGIC SPELLS from a book of spells.[/COLOR][/B]

2 Chr. 34:24, “Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah”

Agreed.

Coveting implies wanting for yourself. Deciding to give someone else's property to another isn't coveting, it's theft. But there is a command against theft, so that still makes two.

Here is one dictionary definition http://www.thefreedictionary.com/covet
Here is another dictionary http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/covet?show=0&t=1313870587

Both are quite the same
1: to wish for earnestly <covet an award>
2: to desire (what belongs to another) inordinately or culpably

In both nuances of the meaning there is no mention of JUST for oneself.

To wish for or to desire something that belongs to someone else whether to have for yourself or to give it to your children or wife or girlfriend is still DESIRING IT (i.e. coveting it)

Besides I also explained earlier.... YHWH coveted the WORSHIP that his children where giving to other gods and wanted it ONLY for himself.

He wanted the sacrifices that his people were giving to Baal, ONLY for himself.

He COVETED the status of Baal and other Canaanite gods.

Deuteronomy {32:16} They provoked him to jealousy with strange [gods,] with bominations provoked they him to anger.

Deteronomy {32:21} They have moved me to jealousy with [that which is] not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities:

Exodus {20:5}Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God,

Exodus {34:14} For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name [is] Jealous, [is] a jealous God: {34:15} Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and [one] call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;

Deuterononmy {6:14} Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which [are] round about you; {6:15} (For the LORD thy God [is] a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

Deuteronomy {4:24} For the LORD thy God [is] a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God.

Deuteronomy {29:20} The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven

Psalms {78:58} For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

1 Kings {14:22} And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done. {14:23} For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

So only two commandments broken.

As per previous posts.... I think you might see that he broke many of HIS OWN commandments.

In fact many of the ones he broke are punishable with DEATH BY STONING.... not to mention the one about burning witches...and as you saw he did magic too.

So according to HIMSELF....YHWH is evil and should be stoned to death and burnt on a stake.

A few more posts like the ones that you have been doing and I shall have to put you on Ignore for my peace of mind - not because of what you are saying but because of how much they bother me.
Ditto.

And the MOD said, useth not the colors that doth blind in thy posts, nor boldeth thou in excess. For this is not pleasing in MY sight and breacheth the sixth commandment of the forum. Repent the error of thy ways, go forth and breach no more.

Graven means carved, or fashioned by hand. Anyway...

Sorry, I was thinking of gravid. My mistake. :(

I think the serpents would fall into the category of "likeness of anything that is in... the earthn beneath..."
the commandment specifies and says of things in heaven or things on earth or in the water etc

I misremembered that part. I was thinking it said "below the earth", not "on the earth below". I concede the point, make that three.

You forgot to comment on the Swore Falsely part......so that makes THREE according to your reckoning.....

I didn't forget. I said: "Lying isn't prohibited by the commandments. Giving false witness is. It's an injunction against perjury and making false allegations, not lying in general. So this doesn't count either."

But also lying and bearing false witness is the same.... it did not say UNDER AUTH.....especially that in the Bible swearing is actually prohibited.

I'm not saying it's about being under oath. What I'm saying is that it's about the witness part, where you're acting as a witness for somebody else's actions. Such as saying you saw someone commit a crime when you didn't.

At least, that's what I interpret it to mean.

For example ....if we go by the Bible in John's gospel, Jesus says he is God in no unclear terms....so the concept of the Trinity is actually supported in John.

I wasn't aware of that. I was under the impression that the Bible didn't directly support the Trinity. I just wasted several minutes looking for verses that supported it, only to discover that all I had to do was read the rest of the thread. :)

Coveting is not just for one's self..... it can be also for ones wife or children or just to elevate one’s status.

Point taken, but coveting implies a state of desire. If you take something that you don't really care about, then you haven't coveted. I'm not familiar with the text, does it describe God's state of mind? Did he actually want the land for his people, or did he merely give it to his people because it happened to be convenient or necessary?

Reading your subsequent posts, I see the quotes do show that he was jealous, but jealous of their worship of other gods. It seems from those quotes that he took their land from to anger and desire to punish, not because he coveted the land.

So no, he did not covet their land.

As per previous posts.... I think you might see that he broke many of HIS OWN commandments.

In fact many of the ones he broke are punishable with DEATH BY STONING.... not to mention the one about burning witches...and as you saw he did magic too.

I'd agree that he broke many of his own Laws and Commands, not that he broke the majority of what the Christians refer to as the Commandments.

Good...that is all I was trying to say...he broke many...if he broke even ONE that makes him a hypocrite and therefore not a God or at most an Evil god. If he is willing to ordain the DEATH penalty for breaking the commandments he broke then he must be quite serious about these commandments. Why violate them himself?

Not to belabor the point....it is not important ...but the Covet part....he coveted Baal's and other Canaanite gods' status and he was Jealous when his people gave them some love.

Besides....his people were worshiping other gods quite happily so why threaten them and Kill them and give them all that agony to get them away from the other gods' worship....isn't that coveting the worship that other gods were getting? Did the Jews deserve to be massacred and enslaved by Assyria and then later Babylonia just because they worshiped other gods?

Yahweh was as good a god as his creators were capable of creating. They did the best they could, given their one-fallacy-per-second thought processing habits.

:p...Absolutely....YHWH is a fictional character and thus cannot be anything in REALITY and can only be a reflection on the writers of the various myths in which YHWH is a protagonist and antagonist at the same time.

However, just like we can make value judgments about any fictional character we can draw some conclusions about the attributes of YHWH as depicted in the fairy tale called the Bible.

Just like one might analyze the character of Javert in the Les Misérables or of Lady Macbeth, one can also criticize the morality of YHWH as depicted in the farcical tragedy called the Bible.

One of the things fundamentalist refuse to do is to admit any science or extra-biblical information (e.g. Archaeology) to influence their opinions on the Bible.

So trying to debunk the Bible by pointing out EXTRA-BIBLICAL data or facts or information will not work for the psyche of a fundamentalist.

Thus, one approach that might be quite effective is to use the bible ITSELF. If one can show that YHWH broke his own commandments using the Bible itself for a proof then it might go a long way in SHAKING their delusion…. I am sure it will not SHED their delusion…only shake…and maybe not even that in most cases.

For those of you that believe in the stories of YHWH, like the the story around Noah and his Ark. or Sodom and Gomorrah.

Do you think YHWH is an Evil god? What do you think about his alleged deeds?

also for those that do not belief in the existence , assuming the old myths would be true, what do you think about his alleged genocide against life?

Well, IF He really exists... AND following the Biblical story-line provided for us about Him, I guess if HE could really create an entire universe from nothing and set the rules for quantum physics, AND for mankind's behaviour, then I guess He could do what ever He wanted according to His laws and pleasure and not care what His creation thinks about it.

If You can do everything He is credited with having done, I'd say you have the right and the authority to do as You wish as well.

If he were real, I would do everything in my power to be the fine upstanding pseudoreligious person he'd want me to be, just to ensure I'd go to heaven. Then I'd lie low for a few years. Then I'd kill him.

... he's got a lot to answer for. China, Pakistan, Haiti, Japan... and that's only recent grievances.

How do you 'kill' someone who isn't a form of life like you and me, but Spirit instead?

Setting aside all of the logical problems, if I told people not to murder and then set about torturing and murdering children by the hundreds if not thousands then I would be an ass (AND Evil). Either that or "evil" doesn't mean anything.
