Actually, no, it's rather difficult to agree that Remington Stone's recollection is "more than dependable" for the following reasons:
1. It is dated "Somewhere over Texas 1 May 2007", which indicates it may not be 100% accurate because it was written more than 37 years after the event and probably in an airplane, well away from appropriate references.
2. Stone clearly states at the beginning: "...here is the story of the Lunar Laser Ranging experiment as I recall and like to tell it." This might mean he has embellished parts. It could mean something else too, but nevertheless indicates that what he wrote may not exactly be "more than dependable," as you claim.
3. As you yourself pointed out in your Fattydash incarnation at ApolloHoax, the coordinates 00°41′15″N, 23°26′00″W are typed in a different font to the rest of the text, indicating that they are a later insertion. Nothing wrong with that if it helps accuracy, but hardly contemporary with Apollo 11, and not at all proving that they are the figures Lick had on 20 July 1969.
In the light of this, could you please explain, Patrick1000, in as few words as possible and in a manner that befits such a highly-educated man with multiple qualifications, why you consider Stone's recollections are as reliable as you insist they are.
It would be far, far better if you found some source dated no later than 1971 which gives the sort of information you so desperately need for your claim that Apollo 11 was hoaxed.
How about doing that? Show us, using evidence from the time of Apollo, that Lick really was given those particular coordinates on the night of 20 July 1969. Then you might actually be making a point.
It seems rather strange to me that such a highly-educated man as yourself should appear to not appreciate this. But really, what would I know? I'm just another bloke who left school at the age of 15 in 1964, who now hangs around on the internet and who followed the space race from Sputnik 1 (watched it pass overhead) to Apollo 11 (listened to the landing live on the radio).
You might recall that I posted a different story at ApolloHoax on 19 July about how the Apollo 11 landing coordinates were found, from a 1970 source. I can't yet post links here so you will have to find it in the Reality of Apollo section under the title "The Location of Tranquility Base."
Oh my oh my! How Kiwi is getting so very anxious about all this Tranquility Base coordinate business stuff. He's a smart lad and realizes that foreknowledge of landing site coordinates equates to HOAX!!!!!. He even wrote a bit of an essay about a contrary view more or less over at Apollo Hoax dated 07/19/2011. What an interesting coincidence!!!!????? Guess he has anxiety 'bout this stuff. And guess he wishes I really were "fattydash". Jeez Louieeeez that group is so bad with numbers.
Anyway, better study up hard Kiwi. I have plenty of support for my claim the Lick Observatory people got 00 41 15 north and 23 26 00 east on the evening of 07/20/1969. Don't get too nervous kiwi, better read read read read real fast fast fast. Here it comes, the big kaboom.
Anyway, I'll be in India for a month working. You guys are off the hook for a while. But I can hear your sweat drops hit the ground from our airport here.
Kidding aside, X, if you are out there, I feel like the jerk I am. Not that you care, but I apologize. I am an idiot for doing that to you. If I wasn't heading outta' here to do some work I'd write more. I am sorry. I was way way way wrong.
Back to the group. Good luck with your studies everyone, a lot on the line here. Clock is ticking, I am back in a month. Better fly out there to Texas kiwi, see if you can prove Remington has Alzheimers, though can't imagine how ever you'll be able to deal with my other sources. Maybe the "fattydash" group will show up while I am away and you can practice on them, though they are so terrible with numbers. That lot couldn't add, subtract, divide, multiple their way out of a Space Shuttle Air Sickness Distress bag. And what is more, they never use the numbers correctly anyway. I read(and stole parts of!) their thread. What was that nonsense about fooling you guys over at Apollohoax into thinking a target delta V (76) program was a LOCATION, Tranquility Base no less? Talk about letting a pack of yo-yos intimidate you. You would have thought at least one person would have said, "what a bunch of jive!" Funny thing is, I think the "fattydash" group really BELIEVES those program 76 delta V numbers WERE A LOCATION. I honestly don't think they were jerking your chain kiwi, I think they thought Tranquility Base was a CHANGE IN VELOCITY. Excuse me while I take a break to laugh my keester off.
Oh goodness, if I knew kiwi was gonna' show up, I would have cancelled my assignment/trip. The thought of seeing kiwi squirm when I show him a few corroborative reports on the Lick business is ever so delicious. On the other hand, since so many guys over there are already reading up, guess you'll clue kiwi in on what's coming.
I simply couldn't resist telling kiwi this now so he'd squirm for the next month anyway.
At first I was thinking of dropping a big fat bomb on you guys from India. But I'll be civil. Study up and prepare while I am away. Better listen up to kiwi there everybody. You absolutely have to show Remington has moon rocks in his head or you boys are sunk.
See ya' in September, my bird is calling. Hope they know how to figure out the landing coordinates for Delhi. With a smile, Dr. Pat
