Sticking with Auschwitz, so we don't jump around more, can you explain what you mean by the "hoax gas chamber," as this term is not familiar to me?

Less than a week ago, we discussed Jewish survivors in the Netherlands; bunny trotted out a claim that there were 39,000 Dutchmen with Jewish names. Then I linked to the report where this number was mentioned and it turned out that, apart from Cohen, Levi and Polak, there are no Jewish names in the Netherlands.

It's a little incoherent but I believe the troll is suggesting that the name Jan means that he's a Jew. I'm not sure where he got this idea but that's not surprising.
 
Why would it matter if Van Pelt is Jewish or not? (He is Jewish as far as I know.)

Raising the issue just highlight that our deniers have trouble tacking his scholarship. It highlights other things too...

John is a decidedly unpopular name among English-speaking Jews. Don't believe me? Look around the Webbernet and see how many Jews named John* you can find.



*Not Jon (as in short for Jonathan). Different names in Hebrew: Yochanan (John) and Yonatan (Jonathan).
