Merged DDWFTTW in a “Real” Wind

That's right so you are twice wrong. Prof Rhett has told you in a clear and concise manner, that two cars at colliding at 50mph is not the same as one hitting a wall at 100mph. That makes you dead wrong. Do you understand what that means? The word "wrong", in this context?

Uhh ... I explained more than once that "two cars at colliding at 50mph is not the same as one hitting a wall at 100mph."

And that will work for those who still hang on to Zeno, and have no idea about calculus.

Yes, as you've demonstrated with your balloon at windspeed arguments - you have no concept of limits.

I'm certainly tired of bothering with Humber. Does anybody out there have any interesting thing to discuss?

Sure. Michael C has T'd one up...

The fascinating mechanics of a sphere rolling on a turntable have been well studied.
Here's an analysis.
Here are some videos

Looking at his link, let's think about the ball rolling on the inside of the cylinder. Given a ball that could roll without losses, could we make it roll on the inside of that cylinder at one constant height - indefinitely?

I have asked before and you ignored it but I guess its time to ask again, would you like to try and make some money from your sense of smell? We know you are not adverse to wagering as you have mentioned your prior bet 100 times or so. I put forth a few ideas regarding the mechanism for escrow and settlement in my last offer to you but I will consider anything. I am willing to bet as much or as little as you want.
I’m not even sure what you’re talking about here duffy. I know Humber posted a picture with that cow he has often used. It didn’t look photo-shopped to me, but as I was unable to find it just now I've asked Humber in a pm if that was in fact his cart.

If you have a link to that picture, please post it. Oh, and did you not notice the smiley’s next to my smelling the fear? I can’t really grok a propless cart advancing on the treadmill and certainly wouldn’t bet on it. Hmm, unless the odds were really tempting. I mean, we’re talking about a CoE violation here right? 100-1 maybe? :)

I have brought up my bet often-and I got 5-1 odds on it-both because I love the irony and to remind those who keep asserting I don't get it that if this is true perhaps Humber and Kammen are right?

I'll bite!

Without loss, I would assume it could rotate indefinitely if you could insert it below the lip of the vessel. Otherwise I think PE would bring it back out. Without loss, I can't quite see how to get it to go in at an angle and settle into a constant height without injecting it that way. It seems to me that momentum in the vertical plane would be conserved and would have to be reflected in the motion.

Enlighten me, please if otherwise!:D

OMG we've been busted -- someone didn't turn the data logger off. Life will never again be the same. Oh, the shame.

JB

Is that your conclusion? It's going to be easy.

And the airport test. Have you found a plausible excuse to tell the rest of the readers of this thread?

But that is what was originally claimed, but the Carteerian shuffle was employed.
It is the error in the relative KE argient that is the point. That is wrong not matter how you try an cover up.

It's not a limit problem.

Oh, a canned "brain-teaser" for which you have the answer.
Other stuff....well...no.

So far:
Relative KE of two cars....wrong.
PE of NB balloons...wrong
Closing velocity....wrong
Instant balloon acceleration...wrong

No one has questioned humber's ability to post pictures of random ****.

It is, but there are smaller ones too. I have all but given away how it works, after the trenchant denials, so that Carteers can't say they "knew that" or whatever.
The basic design: An Atwood's machine and stabilizing mechanism were posted long ago. There are other means, but naturally TAD's cart is one of the least efficient. The transform is bunk, and we have Dr Camp's support on that so it's done, really. The laughable thing is that anyone could see it as proof of ddw.

An apology isn't really an apology when you attempt to lay the blame on others.

Also, the record of the thread shows that I was saying nothing but nice things about you until you dropped in spewing, so we all know how the fleas got here.

JB
Yes this really is one accusation and claim that needs addressing. I gather that this is what TAD took such offence to (bolded) . . .

It's amazing that your “DDWFTTW is wrong” belief has become a silly disbelief given the volume of credible and practical evidence provided. I'm not sure if if your stance is a lack of ability to understand, a competitive reaction to Spork & Co's insulting manner, or you are their sockpuppet to merely keep the debate raging.
Given there is plenty of evidence of Spork & Co's insulting manner on this and many other forums and with many people other than myself, (and Spork's admission that he insults people) I consider it to be a statement of established fact rather than an insult.

But let’s say it was an insult, was it the first?

Post #2846 (40 posts before my post above)
It's a pretty good bet that behind us and Bauer, Ynot has put more effort into demonstrating DDWFTTW than anyone. "Demonstrating" likely isn't the correct word as he was actually attempting to prove us wrong or at least convince himself we were right.
No shame in that as he was willing to accept the evidence as he produced it.
Humber likes to pretend that streamers are not reliable indicators of relative wind direction.
JB
The insult in this post is the accusation that my motivations for my considerable efforts and costs were to disprove Spork & Co. My motivation and purpose however was purely to prove (to myself) whether DDWFTTW was right or wrong and had absolutely nothing to do with Spork & Co.

Post #2856 (30 posts before my post above)
I spite of all the effort Ynot put into multiple versions of the wind tunnel and the respect I give him for that, those videos are truly the last of all the evidence I would try to submit if I were doing such. Start watching frame by frame (some HD version were posted somewhere other than YouTube I believe) and as I recall (it's been a while) I became convinced that all I could verify was DDWSPATW (same speed as the wind). With the eddies that we all know exist behind those paddles, it would not have been possible for me to argue that the device simply hadn't been sucked into an eddy and kept their by the low pressure. I'd be quite happy for someone to show me a video with the device conclusively advancing past the paddles -- I just don't think I ever saw one.
JB
The insult here is being “truly the last of all the evidence I would try to submit” effectively saying my efforts and demonstrations have been a complete waste of time and worthless. The “funny” thing is Spork and Co submitted my demonstrations on many forums as credible evidence.

Another insult is the suggestion that my claim that the cart was travelling DDWFTTW was false and therefore was yet another "ynot lie”. Yet TAD was very confident that it was doing so when Spork & Co eagerly submitted it to forums. You only need to see the flap in the video angle back against the wind to know it’s going DDWFTTW. That this post also contained a few pats on the back doesn’t detract from the insults that went with them.

Two insulting posts that preceed my “insulting” post.

But what about Spork? He re-entered the thread with these insulting and false accusations .. . .
I'm sure you did, but not before insulting us for several pages for not doing your experiments for you. Remember how you were so much busier than us - and how we kind of owed you those demonstrations!?
In a later post ( I can’t be bothered finding it) he said he knew nothing about my “Spork & Co’s insulting manner” comment so his post wasn’t in response to it. Obviously he was insulted mere by my mere presence in the thread.

I think I’ve said all I want to regarding Spork & Co's insults and false accusations and will leave them to continue making insults and false accusations that they refuse to validate with links.

My house, office and workshop were totally trashed in recent Christchurch earthquakes and I have totally relocated to a different area of New Zealand. In the process of moving I dumped a full truckload of inventions and experiments I’ve done over the years. Included in this was the turntable equipment so I no longer have it to do experiments even if I wanted to. As I said, what the marble did has nothing to do with what the cart does so the subject is a bit of a derail on this thread.

Very sorry to hear that ynot - I hope you and yours are all OK.

Ynot-Sorry I missed that also.

In the speed of the thread, I missed your comment with regards to this. I hope everything works out OK for you.

I'm sorry for the loss also and apologize for not reading this comment closely.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention SOL.

Regards and Good Luck on getting back up to speed.

Thanks - Lost many valuable things but all family and relatives are okay. Unfortunately one friend was killed and a couple of others I knew in business were also. Sad times.
