Charlie Sheen thinks Being Sober is boring.....

A lot of the people who paid to see Sheen were hoping to see a disaster happen on stage. It did, but it turned out not to be the kind of disaster they were hoping for...a full scale on screen meltdown.
But Charlie is still WINNING, you trolls!.

You know, I think that the richer you are or the more of a public figure you are, or both, makes it proportionately less likely that you will get the psychiatric help you need should you become mentally ill.

I think that applies to show biz celebs in particular, since they tend to surround themsleves with sycophants and enablers in a way the people who get rich in other businesses do not.

The crowd remained somewhat supportive as Sheen launched into a rant that began with, "They took my awesome children. They took my sometimes groovy job. They tried to take my brain and my heart and my titanium spine."

Source.

Hey Mr. Sheen:

I *do* have a titanium spine. You're a *********** poser.

Negative audience reaction at his new gig is confuzzling. What else could the audience possibly have thought they were going to get?

He seems to have roughly delivered what I would have expected.

However, if he'd hired a good comedy writer and a decent director, it could have been pretty entertaining.

He could have played the uncompromising alpha-male party-boy shtick.
Much like Dennis Leary does the meat-eating, gun-toting archetype.

But without guidance, his rants are just boring.

I could have imagined a pretty good act with rock-music, bikini chicks and fireworks.

Guess he should have hired me. :p

It seems his agent and he did approach a few comedians to get script help, but I guess they weren't succesful in this regard. For example, he did meet with Marc Maron to toss around ideas for the tour, as related by Maron in his WTF? podcast. Maron's primary idea was to center the tour around Sheen as a motivational speaker, which I for one would have found hilarious in a self aware kind of way. According to Maron, that idea was a non starter.

He didn't say, because he is apparently on some kind of zen-journey at the moment (and of course, he can't piss off people at his usual rate, since much of his podcast's draw is his ability to get big and controversial comedians to come chat with him) but unless I am illiterate in between-the lines-reading: despite blaming the cooperation not happening on himself for coming up with what he described as "non starter" ideas, I did get the distinct impression that Marc Maron was very concerned about Sheen's mental health and that he was secretly relieved that he didn't get the writing gig. Maron did not outright say so in any way, though. That is my surmission from how he ususally puts things and how incredibly careful he was describing this encounter.

But as to your suggestion, I believe they really did try to get some old pros behind this tour, and failed. For what reason, I know not, unless everyone approached reacted like Maron.

Maybe he should take some lessons from a whackjob who's being doing this for some time and seems to be quite successful at it. A short message telling him to contact David Icke should do the trick.

It's essentially well marketed self absorbed implosion coupled with voyeurism. Anyone paying money to listen to him is a bigger idiot than him.

It's difficult to believe, but I actually agree with you.

Seems as though Ticket Sales are plummeting, and the prices are dropping on the Torpedo Tour. WINNING!

Well, there's always a spot open on Fox News with the departure of Glenn Beck

I'd say he as six months at most before Charlie sheen's either sectioned, in rehab, in prison or dead.

Well, NY tickets had dropped down to $24 (from a face value of $126) after the Detroit show. Prices have risen a bit ($40-42) after the better reviews from Chicago show, but they're still a long way away from their initial value.

Why should Sheen care what tickets are re-selling for? All that means is that someone bought them at face value and he's already made the money he was expecting, is that not right?

More or less yeah. (Well, I think that's the way it works... with all the tickets bought by resellers.)

However, even though he probably gets paid the same performing in front of 1 or 1000 people, there are advantages to larger audiences paying higher ticket prices:
- He can sell more merchandise at the event
- It gives him more leverage for any future negotiations. (If all his shows bomb, any movie or tv producer can say "look, I don't have to pay you a lot because nobody cares anymore".)
