Is Obama planning to attack Saudi Arabia?

Sure, but there is a distinction between the people and the leaders of the people. The leaders of both China and Japan are in bed with each other.

Every nation in Asia hates each other.
Or: How many times have each of them invaded the others? And what is Japan's current govenrment like? Please to be answering these questions.

Again, if it was just a question of securing oil, why go stir up all that unnecessary hubris by messing around in the current version of the wild wild west - the Middle East. Why not just take over Mexico and its petroleum production? Surely if we're able to stage street riots and political movements in countries that pretty much HATE us, how hard to destabilize an already unstable Mexico? A few weeks of drug czars vs federalistas shootouts and we could bring in the troops and be hailed as heroes. And Chavez? That commie! We'd be doing the world a service (or that's how the NY Post would report it) and get all that crude, too.

China and India can have all the M.E. oil. We've got that NAFTA Superhighway and can just take all the oil from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela. A couple of battalions, a weekend or two with some pretty senoritas and curling queens (them Canadian girls are wicked hot!) and we'd be set for the next half-century.

I'll donate that one to you, Anders. You could probably make it work a lot better than the one you're espousing.

Think about it. If the west wants to station military forces in those countries for many years to come, then how would they achieve that? What would be their options that would allow them to bring in military troops? The world's oil production has not declined yet, but it did enter a plateau around 2005, and new big discoveries of oil fields are far and few between.

I can't tell you what Japan's government is like, since I don't know about the real deals between the leaders of China and Japan. It's secret stuff, not something written about in newspapers.

Why is it that you feel evidence is of no unimportance to your beliefs?

For this thread I would need an actual military invasion of Saudi Arabia or at least talk about bringing in military forces in mainstream news articles. So far I haven't seen any such news. But IF talk about bringing in military forces into Saudi Arabia starts among politicians and in the media THEN it would be case in point.

That's a sound basis for theorizing about the region, isn't it? Knowing something about your subject matter stifles the imagination.

A disclaimer up front is that this is just a very speculative conspiracy theory I came to think of. Anyway, could Obama be planning to invade Saudi Arabia in order to secure that nation's dwindling oil resources?

I don't think so. He seems all for restricting oil supplies.

He probably wants to restrict oil consumption because of limited and dwindling oil resources. Libya has a lot of oil resources. That's why there is so much talk about sending military forces into that country. Saudi Arabia is not Libya, and probably much more politically stable, but who knows, maybe there will be some political turmoil even in Saudi Arabia.

So what you're saying is there's no reason to be worried about this.

Kind of. :o I don't think the risk for military invasion of Saudi Arabia is very high. On the other hand if it turns out to be true, then I can say: I told you so! :D

They are not dwindling. Epic fail.

I'm sorry -- could someone who's not an obvious troll point to me where that graphic says that it is referring to Saudi Arabia?

The super-large Saudi oil fields make up a big portion of that chart. They were discovered decades ago! Today only small oil fields are discovered. Possibly, Saudi Arabia is at or near peak production. Improvement in technology (such as steam and CO2 injection) can keep the production up, but the resources themselves are becoming more and more depleted.

"Saudi Arabia in for revolution?

Saudi Arabia is at the focus of experts’ attention after police broke up a Shiite rally in the east of the country and the authorities banned any demonstrations. Western analysts quickly listed Saudi Arabia as a country to witness the next revolution amid local publications defaming the Royal Family. All analysts are unanimous, however, that the West would not welcome destabilization in a country which is widely seen as the US’ major partner in the volatile region."
