Planned Parenthood Aids Pimp's Underage Sex Ring

I know and it's quite amusing that they did...

It would be as if, Chris Hanson was running his Dateline "To Catch A Predator" sting...with fake underage actors playing a part, and catching the perverts breaking the law...and then the pervert (Planned Parenthood in this case) reported Chris Hanson to the FBI!

*facepalm*

PPH got caught...they know they did...and they admitted it.

Reporting them to the FBI is the best they can do. If this was a real underage sex ring, they would be caught because of PPHs actions. Your analogy is moronic.

Uh....right. So PP reporting these actions to the FBI and requesting a formal investigation (into the alleged sex ring, mind you, not the "sting operation," if you want to call it that) is evidence that they were covering up the sex ring in order to help it.

On Deepatrax's home planet, reporting a crime is the same thing as committing it.

I'm pretty sure he thinks that what is meant by that is that PP reported the videographers and not the alleged sex ring. In reality, they reported the sex ring and included a statement saying something like "we're pretty sure this is a hoax, but in the off chance that it's not, you guys should know about this."

From PP:

Last week, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) alerted federal authorities to a potential multistate sex trafficking ring. Over a five day period, visitors to Planned Parenthood health centers in six states said they were seeking information from Planned Parenthood about health services Planned Parenthood could provide to underage girls who were part of a sex trafficking ring. Subsequent to alerting U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Planned Parenthood learned the identify of one of those involved and believes these visits are likely a hoax by opponents of legal abortion seeking to discredit Planned Parenthood, which delivers preventive health care and abortion services to three million women each year.

From Media Matters:

Planned Parenthood reported the potential sex trafficking to the Attorney General and the FBI. So clearly, Planned Parenthood wasn't trying to cover anything up.

I posted this as the second post of the thread, I know they did it!!! Geez louise!!!

If your post is directed at me, my apologies. I am fully well aware of what you posted. My intent was to directly quote the statement from PP, along with additional information for others. I should have perhaps been clearer.

It's so sad that they go after Planed Parenthood like this. Abortions are only one small part of what PP does. Actually, a bigger part of their work is prenatal care, parent training and sex safety education. They are good people trying to help others.

I would not be surprised if they had tried to string along someone who they thought was a sex trafficker while reporting it to the FBI and asking for further instructions. On the other hand I would not be surprised if their only concern was that the girls get proper care. Had they turned this person away immediately they would not have been providing proper care for the girls and to PP that would be a violation of their ethical guidelines to help those in need.

If the accusation is that Planned Parenthood engaged in wrongdoing, then it is fairly clear that it did not. If you get into a "some employees messed up" argument then you cannot simultaneously accuse the entire organization of enterprise-level systemic corruption.

NEW JERSEY – February 1, 2011– A Planned Parenthood manager in New Jersey coaches a man and a woman posing as sex traffickers how to secure secret abortions, STD testing, and contraception for their female underage sex slaves, and make their whole operation “look as legit as possible” in an undercover video released this morning.

Clinic manager Amy Woodruff, LPN, of Planned Parenthood Central New Jersey’s Perth Amboy center, warns the pimp and his prostitute to have their trafficked underage girls lie about their age to avoid mandatory reporting laws, promising, “even if they lie, just say, ‘Oh he's the same age as me, 15,’…it's just that mainly 14 and under we have to, doesn't matter if their partner's the same age, younger, whatever, 14 and under we have to report.” She says, “For the most part, we want as little information as possible.”

Keep in mind that Planned Parenthood receives federal money

I understand why PP had to fire this employee but I don't think she did anything wrong. If this teen sex-slave ring actually existed, the most important thing is to get the girls help. If they come into PP, the police could be called while they are there. Playing along with this guy would make him comfortable.

Even if the office manager's main concern was making sure that these girls were disease-free and had access to birth control, that is still in the best interest of the girls. They need to have someplace to get these things. If she scares off the pimp, maybe they won't get any medical attention.

It's also strange that they filmed at eleven places but released footage of only one.

I agree with this. She technically violated her duties, but she did so to help someone who was presented to her as being deeply troubled. She wasn't trying to make a quick buck or get away with anything that could personally benefit her, she was trying to figure out how to aid someone who (if the fiction was true) had already been deeply neglected by the system.

This is the new Dumbest Thing Ever (TM) from the Right.

I'm not sure this is the right exactly. (Although I doubt far-right Christian Conservative extremists will condemn this.) The founder of Live Action is a UCLA student and an activist. A college student during their activist phase is usually just a fiery little package of intense outrage, extreme hyperbole, and desperate attention-getting. Their cause and ego are intertwined. She's no more a representation of the right than I am. Although her willingness to adjust and edit facts to suit her politics puts her squarely in the anti-choice camp.
