Thinking about locations that are about an hour from both Montreal and Ottawa, it's almost certainly somewhere just off the 417 highway:

as any other route between the two cities is more than a 2-hour drive. I'd guess somewhere near Hawkesbury or Vankleek Hill, which are fairly rural, with lots of farmland type places, which would be consistent with the 110 acres of land.

It's up there with the 'very cunning plan' (which is 'baldrickian' in it's deviousness). You're right this is Rob fantasizing out loud & nothing more. He see's himself as the dynamic, 'pied piper' style leader of a picturesque community of go getter freemen. The reality is somewhat different.

I just rememered one of the people that my brother was telling me about. It was a woman that owns her own restaurant right around the corner from where we live. She is a part of this movement. She has 2 grown sons that no longer live at home. She was watching every move they made. She could even watch their computer movements so that she knew what they were writing about with friends. She also had their phones rigged so that she could listen to conversations.

I find this really disturbing that a mother would actually keep an eye on adult kids no longer living at home. Plus the fact that she had been in our home disturbed me.

One of the times that my brother called me from jail he informed me that he recorded some of my conversations with him. Husband and I had a feeling that he was also recording us when he was not home. He seemed to always know what we had talked about when he was not even in the house.

If this is the kind of society that Rob Menard wants then all can say is good luck to you. It seems that there are those amongst you that will record even your private conversations and record your private e-mail and telepone conversations as well.

My brother is now out of jail. I had no idea that he was until he called yesterday that he was going to come to pick up his personal items from here. I had it all packed for him and ready to go already before New Years. He showed up with a friend in a pick up truck and a friend with a tow truck plus a police officer. I wonder why he felt the need to have a police officer here. We are non violent in this household and would do anything. He is the violent one not us. I am sure that he still has to go back to court for the criminal assault case that he was arrested for. I did not speak to him while he was here because I do not any longer care to take any part of all this nonsense. Both my husband and I are sure that even if he gets off with parole that this will not be the last time that both he and his wife will be in jail for assault.

Most of the comments are utter gibberish (no surprises there) but there was this one pearl of wisdom:

I have to say I agree. I'd need to be totally blitzed before comtemplating setting foot in Rob's FMOTL paradise. That being said interacting with a collection of stoners operating power tools doesn't sound particularly fun.

I can think of two reasons for the cop to be there.

First, he wants the cop along in case you refuse to hand over his belongings - after all you are not FMOTL and thus could be up to anything. This would of course also make him a hypocrite, since suddenly he is very happy to make use of the servant of "Admiralty Law" for his purposes.

Second, the cop was along as a kind of parole condition, to make sure HE doesn´t do anything to YOU, rather than the other way around. Maybe there is some sort of restraining order he isn´t telling you about, telling him not to go near you, and the cop is there as a condition for him to go near you for the purpose of retrieving his stuff.

Of course, either is just wild-assed guessing and should not be taken as more.

Perhaps he pictures go-getter freeman working for him but I strongly suspect he doesn't want go-getter freeman being Stewards alongside him. I imagine they will be hand-picked for their ability to say "yes, Freeman Menard" and "no, Freeman Menard." I also predict that the it will be less than two months before he actually echoes Napoleon the Pig and says "all of us are equal but some are more equal than others."
