Thunder, you live in New York, and yet you think Amish live 'out in the middle of nowhere'?
the only Amish or Mennonites that I know of who live in New York State, live allll the way in very rural western New York.
yes.....nowhere.

But Israel is not the US, just as France is not the US, and Switzerland is not the US.
I don't think so, at least here. The Chicago neighborhoods that were segregated then are still pretty much segregated now. Lawndale is still all-black, Mt. Greenwood is still all-white.and without them, places like Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia would look very different than they do today.
The Fair Housing Act does not "force people to live together". It merely outlaws discrimination by the seller or lessor.I believe that forcing people to be together

Who am I to dictate Israeli laws? This simply isn't a big deal IMO. It's not like they have a death penalty for selling property to a non-Jew, in that case I'd be outraged. Like I am about the PA law carrying the death penalty for selling property to a Jew, but oddly you couldn't care less about that.so you think racial/ethnic/religious discrimination in housing should be legal in Israel?
is Israel some sort of super-special western style democracy?
Again, why does that make a difference?but in a major metropolitan area? no, as a democracy we can not allow such a thing.

Unlike you, I hold all people to the same standards. I don't think some are more worthy of human rights than others.
I'd agree that the Civil Rights Act had a profound effect. The parts of the FHA relating to mortgage and lending have been worthwhile and successful, but if ending segregation was the goal it was not effective. People have to do that on their own.no, but the Fair Housing Act, and the various legislation passed in 1963 and 1968 forces people to work, shop, and learn together.
(not live together).

So long as we are clear that accepting that doesn't mean I support it.ok, so you accept the right of Israelis to discriminate in housing against religious, racial, and ethnic groups. that's just wonderful.
I'm not OK with it, but I wouldn't start a thread here about it either. That would be an issue for Germans.now, how would you feel about a wealthy German building a massive complex of apartments in Berlin, and declaring that no Jews, Turks, or homosexuals shall be allowed?
you ok with that?

its not racism to insist on having a community where everyone is white?
what do you call it...white pride?

People who actually want to live in a community that has only white christians in it are best kept from polluting other neighborhoods.![]()

...fascinating. Please explain to us how housing discrimination in Israel is OK, but housing discrimination in Germany is not OK?
I thought you hold all people to the same standards?
Your views on this topic are wildly inconsistent, or shall I just call it a "higher/double standard"?![]()

I'm no more or less OK with the Israel example than I am with your hypothetical German example.

No, there is no double standard.fine, let us analyze your reaction to each situation, shall we?
here is your reaction to discriminatory housing policies in Germany, against Jews:

just a bit more annoyed with anti-Jewish discrimination in Germany, wouldn't you say?
looks like a higher/double standard to me.
No, there is no double standard.
