Seismic event indicating explosion at WTC

Anders Lindman said:
Anders,
Did you miss the part where the chart you posted proves that it wasn't a bomb?

I'm no expert on seismology, but that looks similar to an earthquake signature to me, which would be similar to a massive explosion in the basement.
No kidding. Well, I still hope that you post the response to your email, provided that you really sent it. Why not just stay away from this thread until it arrives. No one really cares for your interpretation of the seismic record, since you aren't qualified to make such an interpretation anyway.

But you can interpret it for yourself. You don't need to be a professor in seismology to recognize the similarities in this picture:

Removed repetitive image. It's okay to post an image once or twice in the same thread, but when you start posting it more than that, it becomes kind of spammy and violates Rule 6. Please read the Membership Agreement and acquaint yourself with the Forum rules.

Yes, actually, I believe you do. That's way LDEO employs people like Arthur Lerner Lam and Won Young Kim instead of random homeless people.

Dr. Lerner-Lam and Dr. Young-Kim are both seismologists, you are obviously not.

Do you accept that these men know better how to read a seismograph than you do?

Yes absolutely. I'm not an expert on seismology. But that doesn't make my initial claim invalid. Even the shape of the recorded seismic event is consistent with an explosion (plus collapse). If there was only a collapse without explosion, it would have looked more like this:

yes, no doubt...

I have had the 17 second time refuted...absolutely, by someone at the top tiers of power in the USG...but alas, I cannot reveal my source, as it was not some information I found on the Web.

TAM;)

Good for you. But is it useful information? ;)

Only IF you can show that your information is correct.
You need evidence of thermite; you can't show it. Game, Set, MATCH!

9 years of failure; why push for 10. Ignorance is not something needs to be proved, it need to be eradicated with education. Got physics?

Your CD claims were wrong on 911 and remain based on lies, hearsay and fantasy. Not a thing you can do to change evidence and facts.

NO BOOM! With thermite, your theory fails before it starts.

The no-plane stuff, you now retract? Wow.

Darn! I think I have made a mistake. The below shadow part in the image below is NOT the travel time. :o

Not to worry. The 17 seconds claim is still valid. Pardon my amateurishness.

Can you think of a scenario where bombs weren't required? I mean, you've already admitted that the impact zone was weakened. Do you think it's possible that it could have fallen once it had weakened enough to not support the weight of the structure above?
Perhaps some ongoing exoenergetic process caused the steel to heat and weaken? Say fire possibly?:D

Possibly. I have even speculated in another thread (Controlled demolition vs. the towers collapsing) that the towers were constructed on purpose to collapse like they did.
That's just silly.

..... I believe no planes hit the towers and that the impact floors were rigged beforehand with tons of kerosene, tons of Thermite and shape charges to produce the impact holes of planes. The rest was TV fakery, or as George W. Bush said: "The TV was obviously on".

OK you're heading towards Jammy Dodger/nuke boy levels of stupidity. Mackey was right, welcome to ignore.

I was going to get to that, if our newcomer was interested. :D

From other large, non-mining style explosions, such as the Port Chicago disaster, we find that about 1/1000th of the energy of explosion shows up as seismic activity. This is rough and probably varies by a factor of 10 at least, but let's go with it. That's also why the 1993 bomb was not detected. Too small.

We also know the magnitude of seismicity from the collapses, and the total energy of each from calculations of the Tower mass and height. These reveal that in the Tower collapses, about 2% and 5% of the energy, respectively, shows up as ground motion. This larger coupling should be intuitive, given that it's caused by things actually hitting the ground, not exploded away from the ground.

So we conclude that explosives used for demolition are roughly 20 to 50 times less efficient at creating ground shaking. Hence, to get a comparable signal on a seismograph, we'd need 20 to 50 times as much of them.

The Tower collapses each were about 100 tons TNT equivalent. This means to get the same shaking, i.e. to cause the seismographic traces that our newcomer insists were explosives and not from the collapses, our "Demolition Explosives" would be about 2 to 5 kilotons.

That's not a demolition explosive. That's a tac nuke.

Didn't happen. ;)

This rather reminds me of Barnes Wallis's 'Earthquake Bomb' concept; detonate the explosives underground rather than in the highly compressible atmposphere.

There is no explosive. It's been proven to you four separate ways now:

1. Type of ground motion (Rayleigh wave) is inconsistent with explosives
2. Timing of ground motion does not precede the collapse
3. Absence of sound caused by explosives
4. Improbable size of explosives required to match your idea
Not to forget the lack of barotraumic injuries amongst those in the vicinity of the towers.

Thermite coming up:

Or pouring down rather. Ignore the 'body fluid from the dead people' mentioned in the video. That's clearly NOT what it was. :D (sorry, maybe I should not joke about this tragic event)

It's telling that he refuses to read the information from the site he gets his "evidence" from.

Total waste of time.
