I admit to doing this in the vagaries of my youth. My advise though is; don't smoke up Revelations, that **** will give you one baaaad trip! :p

A senior Islamic cleric has urged Australian Muslims not to seek revenge on a Brisbane lawyer who posted online a video showing him burning the Koran and Bible.

Queensland University of Technology lawyer Alex Stewart appears to smoke marijuana rolled in pages from the religious texts, before rating which "burns better".

The homemade video was posted on video sharing website YouTube on Friday.

You mean like reprinting the Motoons?

Why did that get so much support (defy censorship, don't be intimitated by religious nutters, etc) but it seems some of the same folks have suddenly gotten very accommodationist.
 
The religious idiots act like it's the plot of a bad spy mystery, where someone stole the one-and-only copy, and they must get it back.
 
Meh. Brisbane is the Florida panhandle of Australia, generally. Spot the brain cell (Athon and a few others excepted, of course!).

Personally, I wonder (1) if he really is an atheist - why would an atheist even bother with denigrating religious texts in this way at all?, and (2) if this is just a stunt for some other reason.
 
This is starting to get very silly.

A proper book-burning has as a goal to go into homes, libraries, schools and other places where you might find books; confiscate the offending literature and expunge it from history.

This is some sort of weird RL trolling; a kind of voodoo doll version of book burning where you print words on a dead tree at your own expense and then burn it.
 
The video's been deleted. Either it got flagged too much, or the university insisted he delete it to keep his job.

I hope others re-upload the video. It sounds like it might be slightly amusing.

that is just wrong. To smoke marijuana you use the thinest paper you can find, you use the paper backwards so you can rip of the rest of the paper and have not to smoke it. Some even go asfar as to prevent using the glue on the papes.

and this guy uses printed on pages of books? what a noob.

As an atheist myself I feel that we should try to get along with our theist couunterprts. This act accomplished nothing and only made peole mad. This does not help the cause of atheism.

Atheists should demonstrate their humanity through charity and decent behaviour and not derogatory and inflamatory acts.

The FFRF feeds the homeless and helps familys in need. We sometimes outdo or equal our believer counterparts.

I was thinking that if the crazy guy in Florida burned the Korans, then maybe some people should show up and throw Bibles into the fire as well.
