I was to the West. My view of the plane's approach was not obstructed in any way, but the better part of the explosion occurred outside of my view. What I saw mostly was the North side exploding outwards, as well as the dusty poof on the South side of the building.
Would that have affected my ability to hear a sound? I don't know. But I didn't really hear a distinct explosion sound as portrayed in the audio -- but the video (that which could be seen) was identical.
What about this video. Which plane looked most like the one you saw. The one that hits precisely horizontally or the one that hits at a steep downwards angle ?
