There was no firefight. Irving made that up. Thats why the POWs did not have weapons at the crime scene. A firefight means empty shells and casualties on both sides, something Irving forgot to mention. You seem to be unaware there was a trial U.S. vs. Valentin Bersin, et al .

The LSSAH, Das Reich and Wiking had just transfered back from the Russian front where no prisoners were taken during foward movements. They did what they normally did not realising the difference in western campaign theatre policy.

You may buy copies of the SS soldiers confessions at their trial at this website. Oh thats right, you don't believe in confessions by Stangl, Hoess, Eichmann, etc etc...

He seems to be saying there was a fire and they helped to fight it.(firefight being by him distinguished from firefight)

So it seems either MG can cause fire damage or fire makes bullet wounds...

Back in 40 the SS were machine gunning POWs. In the Ardennes Peiper was machine gunning his own wounded and stragglers when he was forced to retreat.
 
Peiper was also involved in the killing of US Prisoners at Honsfeld, Büllingen, Stavelot, Cheneux, La Gleize, and Stoumont,
On December 19 between Stavelot and Trois-Ponts Peiper’s men massacred about 100 Belgian civilians.

Well Belz, it might be a two ferr deal. Yes attacking the heart of the Commonwealth would be enough to upset most Canadians, but then tearing up France is going to get them very annoyed.
