USA to collapse by December, 2010

yes. in fact you should get more credit cards, take out another mortgage and really live it up while you can

and hey, if the US doesnt collapse just declare yourself a Freeman and your all good :)

I like the way you think.

One thing concerns me, though. The "Freeman Failures" thread is over ten pages, whilst the "Freeman Success Stories" thread is at two pages and holding.

Now, I'm willing to follow your advice; matter of fact, I have the American Express No-Limit Diamond Platinum Unobtanium Card application all filled out and ready to mail. Are you sure this is a sound plan? :D

Right on!

Meet me down at the tavern; first seventy-three rounds are on Howie!!!:D

I'm already there! Where the **** are you?

I've tried to explain to them the pointlessness of wanting me to settle up the bill, but they're being awfully close-minded about it!

i can assure you those failures are due to the court system not knowing how the court system works

Celente is still trying to cash in from the 15 minutes of media fame he got during the 2008 financial crises. Hes is, of course, the classical doom/fear monger: since he began his "trends forecasting" every forecast has predicted utter and total doom, from the 1990s until now. I found some old footage on him telling people to stock up on gold and ammo in the early 2000s - same tale of epic doom, just another year.

What drives me nuts is that the woos want a collapse so bad they can't be bothered to hold him accountable for this constant fear mongering. Hes predicted the collapse of the US to happen every year, and hes always wrong. But because the CTers WANT that to happen they gleefully act like he knows what hes talking about.

Why would you need both?

Why? Its not like you can eat it. I'd go for food every time in a post-apocalyptic society and take your gold from your corpse once you've starved to death :)

On a serious note though, why are there so many people out there who seem to want the collapse of civilisation in chaos and blood?

You just don't understand. People will always want gold, because it's gold and it's shiny.

(Seriously though, I've never understood why these doom peddlers of the all-of-society-will-collapse variety go nuts over gold. Guns, ammo, canned food, fuel, farming equipment, a machine workshop -- I understand all of those. But gold? If the poo really hit the fan, I wouldn't trade any of those for any amount of gold.)

I think the problem is that you are trying to assign logic to people who think/want the US to collapse. These people think you should hoard gold and ammo because gold makes them feel superior, even though - as you point out - in a real collapse gold is worth nothing. Its a sort of cynical populism to them - they hate the current order because so many people have more things than them, but when the collapse occurs THEY shall be king of the hill with their basement of gold coins.

I have also always wondered why so many people so desperately want society to collapse. I think most of it is a romantic notion of a post-apocalyptic world that they got from watching movies like Deep Impact. They think finally they will be free of societal obligations and be able to do what they want. It doesn't occur to them that life in a collapsed society is no fun, and comes with NONE of the luxuries they enjoy today (like electricity - that generator relies on gas which won't exist, after all). Part of it is, again, populism - finally they will have a great equalizer, and all of the rich people in today's worlds will be brought down low. For you average minimum wage basement dweller, this brings them great personal satisfaction.

deep impact wasnt a post-apocalyptic movie, but of course the rest of your point stands :)

gold would only remain valuable if its just the US that collapses, and europe and china still have a strong economy. which of course makes me wonder why instead of stockpiling gold and guns, why not just move to europe?

I think it's equal parts people who haven't succeeded in our current society, who think they'll be the ones who do well in the Age To Come, since they're "awake", and Golgafrinchamism - people who see apocalypse as a good opportunity to get rid of the "useless third" of our population. That third being defined by whatever prejudices the particular person ("Banksters", Jews, Blacks, the poor, the rich, telephone sanitizers, whatever) already has.

Didn't prison planet predicted that USA will be broken up into 3 parts? Also, didn't they said that USA will merged into Canada and Mexico for one large country.

first merge, then split, but into 3 vertical countries this time, because vertical is better fung shui for the continent

You got to admit the image of these idiots starving to death amongst piles of shiny gold no one will accept in a survivalist barter society is compelling. I think it perfectly illustrates the lack of planning and foresight amongst such people.

And that 'if' seems rather unlikely. I have a difficult time seeing how the U.S. could collapse without it causing huge economic and political ramifications in the rest of the world.
