I think law enforcement and military have access to special purpose paint balls filled with tear gas/pepper spray compounds. Having played a little I can say from experience regular paintballs sting on impact, even through 2 light shirts and a medium weight jacket.

I've only ever heard of one person being killed with a paintball, and I believe they were hit in the eye.

Both sides are saying the other shot first; without independent corroboration I don't think anyone can claim the moral high ground here.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is not the first time Israel has boarded ships that have tried to breach the blockade. There was no violence the few dozen other times, including five out of six latest boats.

So when violence erupts one out of five boats in a fleet of six, and this is the first time out of all the times Israeli soldiers have boarded ships trying to breach the blockade, what is the most logical conclusion?

Anyone (with their critical faculties intact) would wonder where all the rest of the video footage is. They would want to hear the activists' version of events.

Their version was that the soldiers just appeared out of nowhere and started executing innocent civilians in their sleep.

Anyone (with their critical faculties intact) would wonder why attempting to board (and launching percussion grenades at) a boat full of civilians, in international waters, in darkness then sending heavily armed commandos onto it, isn't considered to be initiating violence.

Why was there no violence on the five other boats?

Anyone (with their critical faculties intact) would conclude that the civilians were defending their vessel from being hijacked and the passengers and crew from being violently kidnapped and robbed and that they had every right to do so.

Scuffles do not equal violence. And the ship the violence erupted on was neither the first nor the last to be boarded, so the other ships learning from what happened on that does not seem to be a viable explanation (never mind the fact that the Israelis cut all communication lines).

Furthermore, Israel has boarded dozens of other ships in the past, and no such violence has erupted.

Well, the answers seem to be rather logical to me. The violence was not there until they reached the ship with the radical Islamists who had prepared weapons to "welcome" their Israeli friends.

Hmm. Sadly, it wouldn't be the first time that Palestinians faked injuries and being attacked. We have the fake dead guy arising after his "funeral," we have "green helmet guy," we have recycled photos from 2005 "proving" a massacre in 2009. Not to mention all of the staged photos from the local photographers on the ground there. I mean really, do photographers flock from all over the world to take photos of a guy looking through his "house key" on the anniversary of the Nakba? Plus the whole "Jenin massacre" thing, which was straight out of hollywood.

I don't know if the flotilla participants are aware of these shenanigans or not. If they are, then their propaganda is as bad as Israel's. If they aren't, they are the definition of useful idiots.

My favorite was the woman who had a handful of bullets she said were fired at her house by the IDF.

I had some time to look around on some Swedish newspapers, but none of them mentioned anything about large sums of money aboard the ships. This could, of course, be an omission or a bias in my selection of newspapers to read, but if you have a ready source for that claim, I'd be happy if you posted it.
